Tire suggestion and steering wheel question (paint is peeling)

Thought I'd kill 2 birds with 1 stone...

1) I need suggestions for new tires. I don't need to change the size or anything, they can remain stock. The most important aspect to me is price, but durability and handling are also important. I live in Chicago so I will have to deal with plenty of ice and snow. I drive a 2007 G35x.

2) The paint on the steering wheel is starting to chip and peel. It leaves behind a very unsightly gray color. I read that this was corrected for later models. Is there any way to fix this? Or has anyone had success having a dealer fix it under warranty?

Thanks.

If you can still locate some (I believe they're discontinued) BF Goodrich G-Force KDWS are a very respectable all-season tire. On our 07 G I put them on and they're still going strong 30kmiles later and do well in bad conditions. You may be able to find a good price on them too (if they have your size).

The steering and power window bezel/covers that have the paint issues seem to be hit or miss depending on the dealer. Our 09 G seems to have a solid black material, and yes, our 07 did have the ugly grey show up in some wear areas. I think quite a few folks here have had the dealer replace them at no charge, so check around.

for the steering wheel make a visit to the dealership and bring it up. I just mentioned my steering wheel and trim are easily scratched and they are replacing both under warranty

Had to have them replace my steering wheel and switch panels also. If you search the topic, you'll find plenty of info/posts about it...

I asked my dealer to replace the steering wheel and go shot down. He said that infiniti has been clamping down on such claims. (Apparently wasn't a problem before)

Not sure how much you want to spend but I just put on some Michelin Primacy MXV4s and they have been phenomenal. Quiet, did great over the winter in the Colorado snow - much better than my stocks.

I purchased Dunlop Sport Signature tires for our 09, I couldn't push the G w/ the stock Goodyear RSAs (those are horrific tires for a performance sedan), w/ only 5k miles on our G I'd had all I could take
I put 20" wheels on w/ 245/35/20 Dunlops and now have about 7,500 miles on the new tires and love the way the G rides~dry traction is very good, wet traction is excellent, and snow traction is above avg for an all-season tread. I didn't think to recommend them in my previous reply since I don't know the availability in the 17/18" sizes, but they have a wide range of applications so I assume you'll be able to locate a set for your X. Tirerack has them at a bargain, I think you'll be impressed, I know I was
Here's the tirerack Dunlop page:

We bought our 08 G35X used with Goodrich Traction TA tires on it.
They were new.
They did great in the couple of snows we had!!

I've had good luck with Yoko's too!
Daughter has Yoko Avids on her 2000 Maxima and it did great in the snowy NC mountains for two years now.

Also, put Yoko Avids TRZ on my son's 05 Focus. He made it home fine in the snow this past winter too.

Discount Tire carries the TRZ and Traction TA's

Very recently, I put Conti Extreme Contact DWS on my 04 G coupe and look forward to trying them in the snow!!
Had Yoko S-Drives on it before. They were NO GOOD in the snow, BUT great in the twisties!!!

Another vote for Continental Extreme Contact DWS - father has them on his Accord and that car became a beast in the snow
