Never done one, where can I find what oil, how much and a video, write-up of someone doing it? I've seen the first gen video on youtube.

It's really easy, just remove the back four bolts holding your plastic under-carriage shield, this will allow you to flip back the rear portion of the shield that will give you access to the filter & drain plug. You can hold the plastic flap open w/ a heavy object or wire it open. Fill w/ 5.2 qts of regular dino oil or switch to synthetic, it's up to you. I use Mobil1 5/30 w/ Mobil1 filters.
Changing the crush washer on your drain plug is optional. I never change mine and I've done about 8 oil changes on my old G35 & 4 on my G37.

What is the filter #?

Yeah I want to go with synthetic. So theres no 16 bolts like the first gen? That's the only reason I never did it.

Go to autozone and buy Mobil1 oil and the Mobil1 filter. Most places don't sell mobil filters so just go to autozone and buy everything there. I can't remember the filter #, but at autozone they can look it up for you. I think it's 108 something, can't remember for sure.

I personally prefer to remove the whole shield. It doesn't take that long.

I use a bungee cord to hold the flap open. Works quite well.

Taking the back 4 off, propping a hydraulic jack to keep the flap open, remove filter, drain & refill oil takes me about 20 minutes (driving up a couple ramps for clearance). Taking all 16 bolts off then having to reposition the whole shield and put back the 16 bolts seems like an extra PITA (and it gives me an extra 12 bolts to possibly cross-thread, lol)
