Gas Station Fillup Problem

In my previous car, a 2005 G35x it seemed that 1 out of every 4 fill-ups would not go smoothly. I would start filling the car up, the pump runs for about 10 seconds, then clicks off (as if it were full, yet still an empty tank). This would happen for the entire fill up and I would manually have to restart the gas pump about 20-30 times. I've tried everything, putting the nozzle in far, in half way, twisting it, etc. I hated this part of my previous car.

In my current 08 G35x, I never had this problem, until today (approx. my 10th fill up since I've owned the car). The tank was about 1/4 full, and I stopped to refill. The same thing happens where it would only fill about one dollar at a time before clicking like the tank was full. The service attendant says he's never seen that happen, tried a few tricks himself, and couldn't get it to run for the entire fill up.

Is this a common problem or is there something wrong with my car? I've never had this happen with any car I've owned, rented, or drove, except for my two G's.

Try inserting the pump nozzle a little more than half way at first. Start the flow of gas, then once it begins to pump smoothly, insert the nozzle in almost fully. Mine will click off like yours if I don't do it that way.

For some reason, the car doesn't like the nozzle inserted all the way to the "hilt."

I had the same thing happen to me this week for the first time. I thought it had something to do with the pump. I just slowly filled it up and it worked ok. I will have to see if it happens again.

looking like a common problem with infinities, I haven't had any issues as of yet but that is a good thing to know.

I thought I searched for a TSB for this, but I must have missed it. I just re-searched and found the TSB where they need to install a Cut Bracket onto the Fill Limit Vent Valve.

Is this similar to the baffel that you suggested?

Funny - that happened to me for the first time last week as well (after almost four years of ownership). I gave up and left my tank 1/4 full. Hasn't happened since.

Yes, to the best of my knowledge I believe it's the same.
