2007 G35 Airbag Problem?
From what I've heard in the news, the airbag recall doesn't apply to 2007 models. However, my '07 G35 passenger airbag light is sometimes "on" indicating the airbag is "off" even with my wife sitting in the passenger seat. The problem is intermittent. Am I wrong about the recall? Is anyone else having this problem?

It could be that the TSB needs to be applied to your car as im pretty sure the 07's are included in the airbag TSB.
On the other hand it could be that your wife is under the minimum weight requirement (~<110lbs Check out your owners manual), cause if you're under a certain weight then its better/safer for the person to not have their airbag deployed as that would cause more harm than protection since you will be slinged even further with little resistance and hit the air bag hard, or she might not be sitting at some odd angle.
Hope this helps.

There's a lot of posts about this all over the forum. There's an ongoing rumor that Infiniti hates skinny girlfriends as thats usually the passenger that causes the driver to realize the airbag light is on.
I had this problem myself for a long while and took it back to the dealer about 3 times. My car wasn't part of the recall models so they didn't believe me. They called the Infiniti tech support line a bunch of times and finally was told that if they replaced the passenger seat Infiniti Canada would cover it.
Sure enough with the passenger seat replaced the problem went away. They confirmed that if the airbag light is on, it will not deploy in a crash so I'd recommend having it looks at.

You can call Infiniti directly at 800-662-6200. As long as you have your VIN handy they can verify if your car is affected by the recall. In case you still want to look up info, the NHTSA campaign ID is 10V175000. I called Friday and they're working on my car tomorrow so that tells me they have parts available.

My vehicle was not part of the VINs included in the TSB/recall which is why it was so difficult to convince the dealer to replace the seat. They did the harness test that the TSB calls for and didn't find an error.
The really frustrating part was it was tough to reproduce the problem as it was really intermittent. I even brought my girlfriend (appox 110-115 lbs) and we drove around the parking lot for 15 minutes with the service manager in the back seat until we finally got it to happen again. I then drove around with the Infiniti tech for about 20 minutes trying to reproduce it once more.
I told my service manager that I was ok with the light as long as the system was functional but then he agreed that if the light was on the system was off. At this point he agreed to convince Infiniti to pay for the replacement.

I appreciate everyone offering his/her different experiences with this problem. I didn't think to look in the owner's manual for the minimum weight issue. My wife is about 4'11" and 105 lbs. I'll look into whether her size could be the problem. Thanks again!
