Talking The G is about to get serious

I own an '08 LP G35x Sedan and i have been spending countless hours (more than facebook) on this forum researching, shopping, and reading. I still consider my self a noob (only had the G for about 3-4 months), but hopefully i will be able to gain a lot from this experience. So far the minor mods I have done are interior floor lights and a spray painted grill.

After learning so much about this car and its mods (thanks G community). I plan to start modding now that I have saved up and have enough funds to put some serious mods in or at least expensive ones in.

the reason why i am making this thread is because i want your input on the mods so that my G doesnt end up on the path of destruction (end up in the ugly G35 thread or some junker on craigslist). I welcome all positive, negative, and constructive criticism you guys will offer.

MOD LIST:
  • R2C CAI or Injen SR CAI (leaning towards the R2C)
  • BC Coilovers or Eibach Pro Springs (leaning towards the coilovers because of snow)
  • Volk SF Winning or Volk te37 19x8.5 all around (please I need inputs on what offset i should run. would some where around +35 be good?)
  • StopTech BBKs
  • Haven't looking in to exhausts yet

Please any help, information, or criticism is welcome

Thanks guys have a great night!

yo, this is exactly what I did after I bought my G. I bought it in June of this year and I swore I wouldn't mod it. Four months down the road, I've sunk 5g into this thing and I couldn't be happier. I went with all performance mods so far: catback, hfc, coils, sways, cambers, uprev tune, intake.

Good luck, it gets addicting after the FIRST MOD haha. You always want more, and it's never ENOUGH.

What's the reason u want a BBK? U like the look or r u trackin it?

I just don't see how it would be worth it 4 me.

I'm not sayin the stock brakes r gr8, but most people seem 2b happy w/Centric rotors and Hawk HPS.

I agree with Mike. Why sink 5g's into brakes if you aren't seriously road racing the car. A better option IMO is for you to consider akebonos instead

Ehh don't spend too much on CAI. They're all the same thing so it doesn't matter. I already bought my Fujita intakes and they should be coming in a week or so. I'm planning on getting Tein basics because they're cheap and Tein is reputable .

Since your G is auto, you should consider a BB grounding kit? They're around $100 to $120 and the vendor is on this forum.

Exhaust? I'm planning to get Invidia Q300 for my G, if it's not loud enough then I might get some test pips in the future. Good luck modding, start with LED's thats how you get addicted lol.

wouldn't run coilovers in winter as the cold weather and salt will mess them up

Wouldn't that be the same as running stock ones in the snow?

+1 for the R2C if you have the money to spend. As for the BB grounding kit, i noticed slight throttle response so that's something you should do also...cheap and takes 20min to install. I'd say go with coilovers first, then wheels. As Mike said... you probably will not need the BBK unless you're tracking the whip. Let the modding begin...

no, it's very easy to get the threads seized up.

..also,
some people think that they can raise the car for winter & lower for summer.
That doesn't really work either.
Besides being a PITA; you also need an alignment each time you change height.

Thanks for all the responses guys!! Really appreciate it!

Yeah i totally agree with all of you on the BBK I kinda just threw it in there because I felt like they would go nice with the Volks. I do have some G2 caliper paint that I just might use to paint the stock calipers or maybe go with the akebonos which are really nice too.

I will be ordering the BC coilovers by the end of this week i already have the quotes from the vendors here and will be calling them for a final price.

I will also look over the grounding kit, I have only read good things about it. Thanks for the input!

The R2C intake maybe about $100 more than the other intakes but it looks really solid and the heat shields look legit. Also only read good things from it.

My biggest concern are the wheels since they are going to cost the most and want them to fit nicely any offset suggestions or if the volks will even look good? lol

Thanks again guys!!!

so would you just recommend saving the money and going with the eibach pro springs? It only lowers the car about 1.1in to 1.5in so its not too bad if it doesnt snow too much.

If you want to do wheels that look like the SF winnings and are about $1200 cheaper look into the Axis penta in 19x9.5 +25 with 245/35/19 all around. Since you will be lowered on coils these size wheels will look very flush and nice. Trust me when I say that get the right size wheels and offsets right from the start instead of adding spacers later. As for the BBK tue akebono kit is the best bang for the buck in the BBK section of our car. The R2C intakes are good. For exhausts you don't have alot of choices, but you can either go Fast Intentions or Stillen unless you don't mind paying extra to have a new Y pipe made that fits our cars.
