Now that I've driven 4 or 5 of these cars through various warranty visits I've noticed that my TINY little map lamp assembly LED bulbs are dim compared to average luminosity. They're the ones that provide very faint illumination to the center console when you turn on the headlamps.

Anyone tried to replace these? I examined the INL chapter of the service manual and only found instructions on replacing the map lamp bulbs themselves, not those teeny LED bulbs.

If so I'm interested in where you found your LED bulbs. Links would be great

 

They're supposed to be dim, they're not broken.

 

^+1 the brightness for these leds is controlled by the switch on your steering column that you use to brighten the lights for you interior/speedo

if you put it up all the way the speedometer is an eyesore.. wish there was a different control for that light since its utterly useless for any 'maps' or papers. I just think it adds to the overall interior aesthetics and isnt really for function...

 

^ its there as an "ambient" light so its main function is for aesthetics and to dimly light up the interior. The map lights are for reading maps lol
