Thanks to G35driver

Just a quick note of thanks to the members here.

I have been researching cars for several months to replace my V70R, and finally decided on the G35X. A broker purchased a Slate Blue on Black AT last week, with premium, nav, and tech.

Based on the excellence and constructive opinion of the forum here I was able to find out about the basic goodness of the car itself, but the wealth of information here in the G35 community was also factor as it will lead to better enjoyment of the car and help with long term ownership as well.

I have the following plans for the car based primarily on information gained on the forum:

Change rear sway bar to reduce understeer to either the RWD bar or possibly and aftermarket if I can find one where they'll sell only the rear bar. (I like the idea of adjustability)

Add paddle shifter based on threads on the subject as I really like the way this operates. I had real difficulty deciding between the manual and automatic, and for my needs this is truly the best of both worlds.

Change tires to Envigors or Michelins based on information from the tire/wheel sub-section.

Develop upgrades to the Studio on Wheels Bose system through implementation of the JBL MS-8, changeout of some drivers, and changeout of the subwoofer, possibly to a Stereo Integrity or JL Audio thin profile subwoofer in the stock location. I'll be documenting this as I go along for the benefit of other members with the same interest.

Upgrade the brakes when they are due for replacement.

Thanks again to everyone here who offered opinion to my threads, or contributed to the ones where I lurked to find out what I needed to know.

Congrats on the new ride!
Do you have it yet or are you in the holding pattern, waiting for it to arrive?

My broker sold my V70R today, should be able to take delivery on the G Monday or so. Will give me some time to research and buy tires and look into Huber Optik or other tint. Plan to keep the exterior pretty stealth. I also need to research some maintenance issues. I plan to change out all the lubricants; trying to determine the best choice and sources. Mainly, I'm looking forward to driving the thing.

^ glad to hear, just a heads up when choosing fluids for your drivetrain, especially for your tranny, be extra careful and try to stay with OEM fluid since there are a few threads on here where people complained about the tranny starting to act funny and shifting randomly when they swapped to another aftermarket fluid, while others have had no such issues.

Do your research here to avoid any warranty mishaps down the road since i doubt most dealerships would honor your drivetrain warranty IF they found anything other than OEM fluid in your tranny.

Thanks for the heads up. I ran across that issue on a thread that talked about other fluids giving problems, but I wasn't sure if it was an isolated incident. So I take it the Nissan Matic S is the best choice. I may use synthetics in the differentials and engine.

One of the local shops that specializes in Nissans told me that they use BG ATF, and if changed it, I think every thirty thousand miles, they will replace the transmission if it fails. I'll probably use the Nissan anyway. And change it about every 30k. I've also thought about adding a B&M transmission cooler, since I plan to keep the car a long time and will be using the paddle shifters on occassion.

Also, forget about using the stock Nissan oil filter. Get an Amsoil, Purolator or any of the good synthetic ones. The stock filter is nothing more than a rebadged Fram and it's so poorly made.
