Projects I Want To Do - Need Feedback & Possible DIY Links
Hey Guys,
I've been doing a variety of searches and really have found any DIY links that would help me in doing a few of the things i'd like to do. Not big projects but what I was hoping to do is:
1. Replace dome lighting with nice white led lighting. Current lights are too yellow looking.
2. Replace fog lights with HID kit - not sure which to use or how complicated the install wouuld be. I did see one DIY in this area but I'm afraid the HID lights he used were too strong/powerful - I don't want to glare the oncoming driver.
3. Change the color of the cluster display from orange to white
4. Replace interior door handle trims and steering wheel trim - black is starting to chip away. I'm trying to get it covered under warranty, but if they don't, I'd like to replace these myself.
I think that's it.... Any and all feedback would be welcome.
Thanks

1) Well nearly everyone does the LED swap. It brings some class to the interior. THe dome lights are 194/168 wedge bulb.
2) I'm planning to do this in a few weeks. If you don't want to jack the car up to switch to HID then you would have to remove your bumper to get to your headlights...unless someone else has a easier way.
3)I have no experience with that, but other people do the simple bypass here. However we can't discuss it on the forums
4) The dealership WILL replace the steering wheel trim because they did that for mine. I'm not sure about the interior door trim.

Completely forgot about that being a message board rule. I've edited my post and added a new item on the wish list - change the cluster display light from orange to white.

^ i have seen "kits" on ebay that claim they can allow us to change that center display to any color which i thought was not possible, however after driving the '10 g37 loaner with white display, i didnt care too much for it, it seems more luxurious but also simpler and boring along with its smaller white needles(more lexus like), while the red is more unique, sporty and goes well with the entire setup imo.

Hopefully the dealership will swap this out for you. I have heard of many dealerships that don't.
Steering wheel trim is very easy to take out. Check the forums for "paddle shifter install" in the V36 section to find out how to take out the steering wheel. Once you get the steering wheel off, pop off the backing, undo three screws, and the buttons/trim should pop off. Undo five more screws to separate the trim from the buttons.

I have had many great purchases from V-Leds.com and have always shipped promptly never any issues in 3 years on doing business with them. I have heard people saying the same thing about superbrightleds as well. Good luck with getting the trim fixed. down here in Florida no issues for replacing the door trim or steering wheel, hopefully the same goes for the Canada dept. eh
deff do the led interior swap, cheap, classy, clean mod.
my thoughts excattly!

Well, for the door handle i knew if i get them replace it's just going to happen again. So what i did is i took them off sanded it down, clean them and took it into the paint shop to have it painted the same color as my car. If your interested i can post up pix if you want but your going to have to wait till i get home from school.
