I'm pretty sure you can hardwire it to the fuse somewhere or the vanity light or something along those lines. Most people with the setup have the homelink mirror though which makes it a breeze as with the setup I'm running.

edit:so you'd just have to buy a longer invisicord

Its really easy. Extend the power and ground, run it along the headliner, down to the driver side footwell. Then get power from the fuse box using an add a fuse and ground it to the bolt under the carpet rite there. 15 minute job at the most. PM me if you have any other questions.

go to auto zone and get an "add a fuse" attach the power wire for the radar to it, put in a 3 amp fuse in the accessory spot, put it in the cigarette lighter fuse spot and put an equally matched fuse in the other spot on the add a fuse. (you will need ATM fuses to put in the add a fuse (3 and however many amps the existing fuse it) because the ones in your car are ATM low profile and don't fit in the add a fuse.

do yourself a favor and go on ebay and get yourself a homelink mirror. i forget the name of the seller but if you search here you will find him, he sends a kit with the wires and harness for you. its easy to install. the self dimming function is worth it!

cheers!

Bob

Adding a HomeLink mirror presents the very same problem doesn't it? Power. I doubt they wired for the mirror.

I asked about the mirror that some G owners have that has the built in compass. They said my car wasn't wired for it, though I should revisit that as the compass they provide is very annoying.

Carefull. I used an inviscord to my mirrors power and it blew a fuse that prevented the car from going out of park or turning off. Using lightercord right now, put plan to hardwire to fuse box soon. Had to tow it in. Dealer actually replicated issue I was there. Started after one year. Very Weird.

its not really a problem, just remove the a-pillar cover and run the wires down to the fuse box. tap your ground, tap your hot using an add-a-fuse and you're done. voila!

i honestly can't remember if i posted a thread about adding the mirror but i'm sure someone on here has. it's quite easy.

I have an Invisicord powering my radar detector from my mirror and it is GREAT. I have always hated using the lighter.

Just fuse the radar detector with a 5 amp fuse and pick up power and ground at the sunroof motor. It's easy and plenty safe.

I am pretty sure you are jumping to conclusions. There is no way that drawing a small amount of current from the 12v line in the mirror would blow a fuse that did that. Its an ACC 12v line meaning it would not ever have anything to do with those issues.
