Headers, tune, exhaust and an intake and your golden on a V8.

Our 6.0 Chevy Silverado with those above put down 370rwhp.

My dads LS3 09 Corvette with those mods put down 399rwhp.

Just can't do that with the G!

Even the 2010 4.6L was good, winning most comparison tests with the Camaro SS and Challenger R/T (and even SRT-8). The 5.0L smokes the competition for the price.

Don't get me wrong, I love the G. Maybe I'm just getting bored of it. I've thought about doing some modifications (stillen exhaust, 19inch wheels, etc), but I just can't seem to pull the trigger, especially when that money could go towards a new car. Modifications for the G35 don't seem to add that much power either, unless you go for the supercharger kit, which is ridiculous. A stillen exhaust is nice, but at the end of the day, it still sounds like a V6, because that's what it is.
I hear you on getting bored, that's the real reason most folks trade in their rides. Unless yours is paid for compare your negative equity V. Your inability to pull the trigger on boltons or even the super charger. Either way if V8 muscle is what you want, no bolton to the G35 will compare. Additionally domestics tend to respond a little better to some bolt ons. GL with your quest for muscle, let us know what you decide.
I myself don't have any boltons yet as I have 2 motorcycles, crotch rocket 1000CC and cruiser 1100CC so when I want the thrill of carving up the streets, the crotch rocket is my weapon of choice not a G35

For a V8 it may not be any faster, but do take into consideration that the G8 is a larger car compared to the G35. I was comparing it to the G35 myself, a couple years back, but as much as i liked the added rear space (kids seats) and the beautiful exterior, i couldn't get myself to love the interior. The G8 Holden's are generally reliable cars and have no problems on that front. Get the GXP if you can, otherwise there's not much the GT has over the G35 IMHO.

The center console in the G8 was a big turnoff for me. No NAV especially... Not to mention it only came in Auto (as previously said). But the car was fun to drive.

Any ideas when the next V8 RWD sedan will come out from GM? I know there were rumors in late '09 that Chevy was re-releasing the Impala, but that turned out false. GM has to come out with something soon to rival the Charger, which still blows in comparison (even the 2011 redesigned model). Many people don't have the cash to jump to the CTS-V.

I actually test drove a G8 GT before I bought my G and we drove it hard cause the sales girl wanted a sale, but I had already test driven the G so i wasn't impressed by the interior or the handling, I love the exterior of the G8, but it just felt too damn heavy for me, and handling was pretty sluggish, we also test drove the charger RT and same thing the interior was just not working for me, but if had the money to spend I probably buy either one , nothing beats that V8 sound.

Santos,
Looks like you have the stillen exhaust. How do you like it? Also, what are the specs on the wheels and tires? Almost bought a set of Rays engineering 19in wheels/tires off the '05 coupe, but the 245/35/19 tires up front were 1 inch too short in overall diameter. Would've required me to buy 245/40/19 tires. I'm also not a huge fan of staggered wheels for rotational purposes. Are you happy with simply getting the lowering springs and not full coilovers?

I read in one of the car mags that GM has plans to import the Holden V8 platform again, but this time as a Chevy with different sheet metal.

I looked at a G8 GT. Great engine. Looks decent outside, interior is mediocre IMO.

Reasons I didn't get one:

No heated mirrors
No memory seats/mirrors
No power tilt telescope
No keyless start
No HID's
There are a few more I am forgetting.

If you want some luxury or options with horsepower, look at SRT-8's.

I love the look of the G8, saw one the other day Black w/ black wheels and looked razor sharp, too bad GM ditched Pontiac. Seems like they could have kept Pontiac and ditched GMC, or Buick since Chevy & Cadillac have those 2 brands pretty much overlapped.
I doubt I'd pick up a G8 now even though you can probably get one for a great deal. I think I'd rather have the 5.0 Mustang even though it's a 2 door.
The 2011 Chrysler 300M w/ v8 is getting 5.4 0-60 and looks pretty damn nice from the latest MotorTrend pics. Sure it's a big car but it seems to be getting pretty good initial buzz (and has some nice LED running lights).

The new 5.0 is the only American car under 45k I would buy.
