G8 GT vs. 2008 G35 Journey Sedan 5AT
I own a 2003 G35 sedan. i recently test drove the G8 GT.True pin your head to the seat power. i was amazed, its comparing a 3.5 to a 6.0. I mean its night and day. Tires spinning in 2nd passing other cars. A true beast. way faster. no compitition. Anyone with a G35 dont try racing that car unless you have a supercharger
I had an 07 G35 S and traded it in for a 2009.5 Pontiac G8. Stock vs. Stock both cars are comparable giving a very slight edge to the G8. Interior quality is a no brainer, the G35 is far superior in terms of materials used. Once you go aftermarket however, there really is no comparison. A simple CAI and tune in the G8 will net you 35hp and the transmission has over 600 different parameters. The transmission tune alone can knock off .20-.30 in the quarter. Once you replace the OEM rubber bushings with Poly bushings and change the sway bars and shocks/struts/springs, it'll pull a 1.01 G in a corner and handling is incredible, especially given it's size. The G8's suspension was designed by the BMW E39 M5 engineers and it handles very, very similar. The new Camaro is built on the same platform the G8 was built on and so many parts are interchangeable between the 2 cars. A good example: The Brembo brakes from the G8 GXP cost $800, while the Camaro Brembo's to include rotors, calipers and pads cost $350! It's extremely easy to get the G8 into the mid 12's at a very reasonable cost.
I myself had less issues with the G8 than I did with my G35. It's been rock solid. As I stated before though, the G35's interior materials are hands down superior. I had buyers remorse when I first purchased my G8 because of the cheap looking materials. The fit/finish weren't even comparable. The G8 is huge in comparison and more in size with the Infiniti M. GM would be crazy not to bring the Commodore back over here in some form. Especially if it's in HSV trim! The supercharger and launch control make it an absolute beast at a very cheap cost!

Hey guys,
I'm considering selling my 2008 G35 Sedan 5AT Journey and using the proceeds to buy a used Pontiac G8 GT instead. I've enjoyed my G very much, but I'm really itching for a V8 powered sedan and the G8 GT was really the best in class. It's a shame Pontiac is done for, because I've fallen in love with the G8 GT. The G8 has much more low end and a standard limited slip diff. It's a beast. Obviously from a reliability standpoint, the g35 is bulletproof. We really don't know how reliable those Ausie G8s are. But that 6.0L V8 is habit forming. Plus, simple modifications can yield much larger gains out of all that muscle. I'd love to hear anyone's opinion on this, especially if they've driven or owned both. Let me hear your thoughts.
Thanks
