I have a G8 GT in the rare color of Ignition Orange Metallic. I love my 6.0, but my wife can't handle 300ft-lbs @ 2000RPM with this RWD in the winter. I still have it and I'm trading my Subaru 2.5i for a 2007-2008 G35x.

I would recommend going with the GXP (LS3, 6.2), the 6.0 (L76) is known for its rocker arms to break due to it Active Fuel Management/Displacement on Demand (4 cylinder mode). Also the GXP has the 6M option but has a higher price tag than any GT.

The reason the G8 felt heavy is because its got a high geared rear end (2.92). The 3.27 and 3.45 rear-end gears have helped alot of others get a lighter feeling to the acceleration.

I'm a member of www.grrrr8.net, excellent site run by a ASE Certified Master Tech, he could answer almost anything, if he can't there is a guy straight out of OZ that knows the G8/Commodore inside and out.

I hope this helps.

EDIT: I get 26-29 MPG on the highway and 18-22 city with a CAI and TUNE w/0-62mph in 5.2 seconds.

I'm also not a huge fan of staggered wheels for rotational purposes. Are you happy with simply getting the lowering springs and not full coilovers?
Sorry Westibbs was away for a while, well the stillen exhaust is not bad it is a bit louder than i would like, but I get alot of compliments from young and old folks lol, I won't denied that it does drone at highway speeds, but you get used to it after a while, the wheels are 245 or 255/35R20 i'll have to check, the rims are 9 inch wide all 4 sides no staggered setup here, the offset I can't remember what it is, about coilovers I had no choice but to go with the Eibach since there was no coilover options for AWD G's at the time, but I'm happy so far no complaints.

How much did you pay for your stilen exhaust? I've been trying to find a used one for purchase, but it seems impossible. $1,000+ seems like a lot to spend for cat-back only. But I guess it's worth it for the sound. I'm sure power gains are minimal.

yep that sounds about right, I paid $1100.00 installed at my local dealer, and got to keep my OEM as well, yes is a bit expensive but in my case I didn't have a choice since when I was in the process of trying to find the right rim size, my friend slammed the OEM exhaust again one of the hoist jacks when he was driving it up the hoist, so it got pushed back about 2 inches making it vibrate against the rear brackets, turns out he stretched the y bracket at the front and they could not fixed it unless I took it to a shop, i asked around and it was going to cost $400 to get it pushed back to the right size, so I decided to just go with a new catback exhaust. Power gain I can't comment on it since I never got it Dyno, but it did feel it accelerated at a faster rate but probably not much was gained.

I really like the G8, but cant see myself driving a Pontiac. However, the engine is a beast. My father inlaw and and i have a 93 rx7 with a 6.0 out of a 2006 GTO dynoned at 429 (obviously modded) estimated 563 at the fly, oh yeah it weight 3100 with me in it. Blew the doors off a new Viper, dude was sooo pissed...guess i would be too

Agreed. I was considering the G8 GT when I got my G. For several reasons, I ultimately chose the G. I am a little anxious to see what GM does with this car for the US market and what the finished product will look like.

Hopefully, they'll add Navi and upgrade the stereo a bit, the latter being something I was underwhelmed with.

G8 GT all the way

I own a 2003 G35 sedan. i recently test drove the G8 GT.True pin your head to the seat power. i was amazed, its comparing a 3.5 to a 6.0. I mean its night and day. Tires spinning in 2nd passing other cars. A true beast. way faster. no compitition. Anyone with a G35 dont try racing that car unless you have a supercharger

I like the G8 but it's too much of a sideway move from a 08 G35 with the HR motor. Giving up alot of interior too.

GXP would be considered in order to make it feesible.

Both in terms of 0-60 and quarter mile times, the two cars are pretty close. After looking at all of the major publications, it looks like on average their numbers are neck and neck. Both had 0-60 times of 5.2-5.6 secs and quarter mile times of 13.7-14. Perhaps the low end torque makes it feel quicker, but in reality it isn't much, if at all. That, or you need to test drive an '07 or newer G again.
