Trans problem, car in dealer, any suggestions?
Trans problem, car in dealer, any suggestions?
I have a 2007 g35x 5/at 4dr 59k. While driving in manual mode as well as sport mode every gear except first has a skip between 3k-4k rpm. the higher the gear the lower the rpm it skips at. When I say skip it is just a split second where it almost feels like something engages that puts a load on the engine( almost like when you turn the a/c on in a 4cyl ) and the RPM's drop (about 100-150 rpm). I was thinking it was the torque converter but why in 2nd and 3rd gear? The dealer is saying it's the same on all of those models that they have on the lot. I can find some others with the same problem but no solutions or ideas. I just wanted to put this out there to see if anyone had a solution for this. Thanks in advance.
Sounds like the torque converter coming in and out of lock to me. There's a sensor on the torque converter that sensing the line pressure and/or temp (I can't remember which) that determines if the converter is able to lock-up. Maybe that sensor is going bad. Or maybe the trans is just a lemon. Either way you're under warranty.
Forgive me if im wrong, because im new to the infiniti world, but this sounds like a torque managed shift to me, most modern cars do this. When a trans slips, theres a flare up in rpms, not a drop. And when a torque converter is going bad, they usually shudder on engagement. The dealer said what your experienceing is normal?
Sorry to hijack thread..but can you get the extended warranty with Infiniti any time? Got 8k left on my powertrain

I was told by my dealer it has to be by 70k...so at 63k I'm about to grab the extended warranty for $1149 for 24mo/24k with $100 deductible.

I found the tsb for ecu flash, I don't know how to link to the thread but the tsb number is 23710-jk69d. Also in the same thread was a tsb for throttle sensitivity itb08-017a. I am very far from a dealer but hope to visit one soon for these updates. Let me know if this info was helpful..
