Help I can't decide
Help I can't decide
I live where we have the white stuff but I never had a problem with my G03 sedan non 4 wheel drive. I'm torn between the S and X, the X I figure might burn more gas and be harder to tweak the suspension while on a good note will be like being on rails in the snow. While the S already comes with the beefier suspension and will be sportier whatever that means. Pitch in guys I need some thoughts..

For me, it was all about getting the 6MT. if going auto, I would go X all the way because I get snow up here too. There are a lot more choices now for suspension, exhaust, etc. for the X that you shouldn't feel left out.
My personal belief is that there is no substitute for the pure handling characteristics of the G35 RWD. I feel that snow withstanding, the G35 RWD is always the way to go regardless of the S or Journey setup. AWD muddies the handling characteristics in all but snowy conditions. My suggestion is to get RWD, and get a set of snow tires. Car and Driver had a great article on snow tires for the G37 Journey. They selected the RWD version for the reasons I just described.

I just went and sat in the 2007X and the car was full if snow so will go back to drive it on Wednesday, my first impression the sound system was not has good as my teaked sytem in the 03 changed out speakers and added an amp.
The dash seemed a lot closer, actually very busy to what I'm used to. I know the car is made better with 306 ponies, but unless my test drive blows me away, I might keep my old jalopy..and I do love the rear wheel drive in my car..

You'd have to get a G35S to get the limited slip diff. The G8 GT is also a hair faster stock, with a tons more unlockable power due to the V8. It also has a much more comfortable and larger back seat and looks a little more sleek as well. Just a thought...
That's a lot of miles. There's no reason our cars can't go 200k+, but you're going to have to start shelling out a lot of money in maintenence. How many miles are on your current car? Might as well just keep yours if you have similar miles...

How much snow do you get? We had a bad December here and everyone with 2WD is getting stuck. I've seen a lot of 2WD CUV's and even a few Jeep Cherokee's stuck and I've been completely fine with my G35X other than a bit of scraping.
Typically, most 2WD are fine almost anywhere with the right rubber, but I like having some confidence when pulling into traffic and/or getting across an intersection when it is slippery.

I have never owned an auto and probably never will. The 6spd S is the way to go....unlessvyou HAVE to go out in the snow. It is not made for snow, you would definetly need snow tires in the winter...even then it still sucks ***
Sorry my mistake the 07S has 100,000 miles and I will be testing a AWD but I'm pretty sure I want the RWD as less cost, easier on gas, lighter and better
in the twisty's. I know its a lot of milage but the cost is so cheap. I will wait for all the records to be sure it was serviced properly, then get a car fax to make the decision. If this 07 is as good as my 03 I don't see it as a problem.
I'm an old fart so AT for me as I get stuck in traffic a lot.
