To get the extended warranty...or not

I can't decide! Before my powertrain runs out however (6K left), i need them to take a look at some weird shifting issues i have but it doesn't bother me at this point as i will probably wait until spring.

Would you get one for these cars? If worse came to worst and i had to replace transmission..what am i looking at? 3k? 4k? I know the VB is around 1,500. I am just trying to justify paying 1,000 on a warranty'

How much did yours cost and for how long? Is it only powertrain?

Tranny is more like $5k with labor if your lucky...for peace of mind I did it. Waited till I hit 67k+ though, $1100 is well worth it for peace of mind the next 24k miles. Not that our cars are problematic, but they aren't necessarily cheap to repair for big ticket items. I know I'm gonna need a new tranny before its all over, so I just paid for it $1100 LOL.

I just got my 07 G35 with 58k miles, 2k and 1 month from expiring factory warranty.

Read from other thread, I called Infiniti in Phoenix to get the Elite extended warranty, 96 months/120k from in-service date, which means another 4yrs and 60k miles for me, bumper to bumper warranty (including navi, powertrain.....). The dealer where I got my car asking for $1,650 for just another 3yrs/40k miles but i got extra 1yr/20k for $450 less.

if you need the contact info, let me know.

given the reliability of these cars it seems like a bad investment to me. My last car was a BMW and extended warranty is a necessity for them...browse the G forums for a while and these cars are comparatively bullet proof....

but whatever makes you happy is what you should do....

No it was. Tons of ice in the rim. No more violent shaking. Just have a question about downshift when coming to stop

here it is...

http://www.eliteprotectionplan.com/

Ask for Courtney, she seems nice and informative.

BTW, my plan is only good for CPO car, or if your car can still qualify for CPO (within 60k miles) and just need inspection report.

She also has other warranty for non-CPO. Her warranty is same as all Infiniti dealers but she just able to offer it at much lower price.

I guess my extra 1-2k paid to dealer for a CPO car has some good return.

Yes, some may seem warranty is a bad investment, trust me, I have never purchased warranty (car, TV, electronics...) but for some reason I don't have good confident on the build quality of this G35 so buying the warranty gives me a peace of mind as I plan to keep it up to 200k miles if possible.

^ And that's all it boils down to, peace of mind. No car is bullet proof and owners of a brand will obviously say that brand (Infiniti) is bullet broof. Browse around and you'll see proof they aren't. They are however better than average for reliability. This is my second G35, and while I had no issues with my first one (04) I know of many right here on the forum that had issues.

I've got 68,000 miles on my 07 G35 5AT and use the paddles most of the time. Don't know if this is harder on the tranny or not, but have noticed that sometimes after an upshift the tranny will upshift again in less than WOT conditions. Not sure if this means anything, but will probably keep the G for a few more years so the extended warranty is attractive. There was a thread last year where someone paid $7k for a new tranny.

I have had this happen once in the past month as well. But only once.

7K? That's F'd up. Talk about overpriced. I would shop around for months before i paid 7K for a tranny

Can you bargain the price with them? Like if one dealer says $1100. Is that they lowest they can go? Or if i told them i am going to call a few more dealerships will they lower the price ect?
