With any aftermarket intake, you will always have the risk of hydro-locking your engine. I have had my Gen 3 intake for about 2 yrs now through many rainy seasons. I personally think the Gen 3 is safer than the Injen CAI because the filters actually sit higher as opposed to pointing at the ground like the Injens. If you are really worried about water getting your filters, you can always customize the shield which better protect your filters. Also, I know that Injen offers some custom filter sleeves which block out any possible moisture/debris from getting to the filters.

I think it's better to go with the gen2 intake because it's better to be safe than sorry.

the stillen gen 3 intake sit in a position that is more prone to intake of water. The gen 2 sit in a position less prone to intake of water. Of course, the decision is up to you.

If you're considering the Gen 2, get the R2c system. Better all around IMO. But if you're looking for pure performance, the Gen 3 is tops. Gains are very significant for intakes. I haven't had ant water issues with mine, and I've driven through many a downpour. Just don't drive throughany "puddles" as high as your grille.
