How long do these cars last, typically?
I'm thinking of buying a 2007 G35 with about 40k on the ticker. If I finance for 60 months, I'll have nearly 130,000 on it before it's paid off. What goes wrong with these cars around or after that mileage? Would it be a bad idea to finance for 5 years on a 40k car?
I'm used to old Fords and mid 2000's chevy trucks.

I've owned my 08G for about 2 years - 50k approx. The paint is horrific. You can tell when it is sitting next to another car of similar color (for me black). My buddy has an 08 benz C/black exterior and the difference in paint quality looks like a night and day difference (infiniti being the worse). I already have paint chipping everywhere - took it to the dealer and of course claims it is environmental damage and won't even attempt to help.

I have 85K on a 2008 6MT Blue Slate (bought in Nov 2007). The car runs like the day I bought it. I change the oilt with Syntec avery 3700 miles without fail and reset my MPG guage at the same time. It hovers between 20 and 22 MPG (it has been on 22 MPG the last few oil changes). The paint looks as good as the day I bought it. I wash it just about every weekend. The only mod I have on it is K&N Air Filters (hardly a mod). I use Kuhmo Platinum Elites and get 35K on my rears and 40K on my front tires (being a Sport it has different size dires on front and back), I got 17K on the crappy Bridgestones that came with it. I had the breaks changed at 52K and normal maintenance. Hoses changed and radiator flush about 10K miles ago. I still have my original battery. I fully expect to get 200K or more out of this car.

I believe if you take care of these cars it should last to 300k w/ no problem. I had an Acura vigor that made it to 200k before i sold it for a G. I am planning on keeping this car and if everyone is still on these forms i'll let you guys know. (unless someone else beats me to it.)

This is reassuring. The paint doesn't bother me TOO much....any G I've ever seen around here has looked great, even the older ones.
Every time I try to find another car that is comparable to this one, my research always points directly back to the G series. RWD, decent mileage, speedy, looks fantastic, reasonably priced, holds resale value, etc. etc.....I can't really find anything that beats it.
