Help please! Was my offer to low?

Hi everyone.. This is my first post. I have been studying and searching for a 08 g35x sedan for a few weeks now. I live in IL (Cook county), and just came across a 08 g35x sedan with the sports package. It has 23,000 miles and has the premium package(no nav). This is the cleanest g I have come across in my searches. Both the interior and exterior are almost perfect.

I have never spent this type of money on a car before and want to make sure I get a good deal, and most importantly do not get ripped off. This is where I could really use your help!

The car is listed at $26,950. The out the door cost is $29,400.

My first offer was 26,000 otd, and they came back and said they couldn't go more than 1k off, which would make the total cost 28,400. What do you guys think the max is that I should be paying for this car. I really don't want to pay more than 26500, but would be willing to pay 27,000 because the car is in great condition.

Can someone please tell me if I am over/under paying?

Thank you soo much for any help!

Ken

I would let them sit on it. Unless you really need the car. Depends on how quickly the dealership turns around cars.

So does 27k sound like a reasonable price? Or do you think I would be overpaying? The car did not go into service until Aug of 09, so the warranty is good until Aug 2013 ( I will not reach 60k miles until then).

I believe the x is adds about 1500 and the S about 1200. That is when it is purchased new though, so I'm not really sure. What do you think the highest I should go with this. I do not need the car, but I really want it. (It is soo clean) How do you like your 08g? Any problems?

if the condition is really that good and with AWD, premium, and S package at 23k miles iw ould say that 27k OTD is a reasonably good price and they should go for that pretty easy imo.

If you can get it for 26.5k that would be what i consider to be a very good deal for those miles, year, packages and condition.

At the end of the day you are in a reasonable price bracket so if you feel good about the deal then go for it else keep looking.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Yes, I have looked at about 8 g's since I started looking, and this one is hands down in the best condition. The interior is nearly perfect, and besides a couple small dings, the exterior is very nice.

Ok thanks. I am thinking that 27k will be the most I am willing to pay. Hopefully I will own this car soon! I have been shopping too long!

i think that is certified pre owned then because the cpo adds 2 years or 100k miles (which ever first) to the manufacturer's (4 year?) warranty

am I right?

To be honest, I would go no more that $25,000 otd, but I really don't know much about the XS. I am probably wrong on this, but isn't the XS more of a visual upgrade as opposed to a mechanical upgrade, basically just the front lip, paddle shifters, sport seats, and 19'' rims.I might would go $27,000 if it was CPO, but then again, it might be cheaper to go the Elite warranty route.

Although it is a 08 the car did not go into service until august of 09. So the 4 year (60k miles) warranty goes through August 2013. I am not sure why the car did not go into service right away, I don't think that should raise any red flags? ?

Well the warranty will be good through 2013 because the car was not put into service until 09. I live in a suburb near Chicago, and I am pretty sure there is no way I could get this car at 25 otd. It has 22,500 miles, premium pack, and is in almost perfect condition.

So you think I would be over paying at 26,500-27,000?

And yes, the sports package includes exactly what you are mentioned.
