Somewhat of a brake nooby. I am about to replace front and rear pads soon. 6 months ago, when I bought the car, the dealer replaced the rear pads/rotors as well as machining the front rotors. My fronts are at 20% left and rears are @ 40%. Should I upgrade now to a new package front and rear rotors & pads. Or what brake pads should I use to replace. Stock, EBC, etc.... Doing everything at once would let me paint all the calipers black as well now that I think about it. Thx in advance.

 

i switched to R1concepts premium rotors and ceramic pads and have been very happy for over 30k. Its really up to you, whether you are willing to spend the money in lump sum now or break it down over time...

If you've got 40% remaining in the rears, you don't really have to replace them. they should be good for a long time yet.

 

I think you should upgrade to Akebono's

If you have sports then be careful when you order the rotors cause most vendors do not carry the Sports and are unaware of the difference and will send you the non-S rotors and then you have deal with returns...

but those are for previous gen so make sure if you get em they are for 2nd specs.

+1 on that. I just went through that myself. Both rotors and pads on their way back for refunds due to vendor selling me the wrong rotors.

Now have installed correct front rotors and new pads in front (for the second time, getting really good at this).

Rear rotors were in great shape so kept them but old front rotors (drilled, installed by original owner) were warped and glazed. OEM pads were a mess - some of them had seperated from the backing plates and one was nearly gone when I pulled them.

I would suggest doing all pads at the same time unless just going with OEM.

I did front and rear pads (EBC Redstuff) and front rotors (EBC Dimpled/Slotted). Very happy with EBC.

 

I am going to order the EBC red stuff. Heard nothing but good things. Don't have the money for the rotors right now.

 

By the way, make sure you get the right pads also. They seemed to be in short supply when I went to reorder mine (to replace the ones that were messed up from the wrong rotors). I found out you can go to Pep Boys and order them directly from EBC. Takes a few days but they had no problem getting them in. Cost about $10 more than ordering them on line but knowing I would get them in 3-4 days instead of 2 weeks made it a no-brainer.
