3.79 Liters per gallon:

3.79*1.40 = $5.306

The US had really cheap gas compared to the rest of the world.

I only use top tier gas. In order of preference...Shell, Mobil and Phillips 66 in my area. Check out http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html for the entire list of retailers...

So recently, I've been using Shell gas because i wanted to try the nitrogen enriched gasoline. I've used about 2-3 tanks now, and i must say I can feel there is a difference between the Shell gas and the ARCO gas i used previously. Shell gas is ALOT smoother than ARCO. When my car is going on low rev it is a little jumpy (nothing really significant). now i've been using the Shell gas for the past month, that little jumpy feel is gone! everything is so smooth! so afterall, I guess paying 10 cents more for premium does make a difference. GO SHELL!!

i didn't have good luck w/Shell premium, mpg went down 1-2. Mobil/Exxon was my benchmark.
lately been using 93 octane Sunoco, which seems to be giving me the best mpg and smooth acceleration/idle. And every station around here adds 10% ethanol.

That's interesting. I just filled up at Costco last time and I've noticed that my mpg is definitely down compared to the last few fill ups I did at Chevron. Damn ethanol; what a crock this stuff turned out to be. (unless you're turbo'd)

Will you actualy notice a difference with mpg immediately with a bad gas fill? I used Costco gas recently but I can't believe that one gas will be that much different than another.

I don't want to start a debate but can someone answer why one fuel additive is that much dramatically better than another?

Want to be educated pls.

^^ You're lucky you're not in California. We get get winterized gas that is just poo. I'm not sure when they switch over to summer blend, but the energy content of the winter blend is definitely less. I did notice a major difference between Chevron and Costco. If they are using lots of ethanol in the Costco gas, then that alone could explain it. Adding ethanol yields a higher octane rating, but the energy content is lower than if it were just plain gasoline.

I don't think costco uses ethanol, don't they have to state it on the pumps? Been looking & haven't seen it on there.

Like I said, you're lucky you aren't in Cali.

ALL pumps here say that they may contain "up to 10% ethanol".
