Sure its quality oil, mostly group IV but that does not make it "good" oil. It depends from engine to engine obviously. but specifically in the VQ royal Purple gets out performed by cheaper oils.

if you say it runs "good" ok fine but there is no scientific bases to your "good". If you want some scientific bases get a UOA which run 25-35 bucks not expensive at all.

Not the oil debate. I'm sure we all know that dealers put whatever they have or what's supplied to them in our cars. And our cars will run just fine without any adverse effect on cheap "CORRECT GRADE" oil for a looong time. But I know, we all have our preferences.

There's your answer.

That being said, I wouldn't get all freaked out about it; just change it a bit on the early side and switch to a better brand next time.

I always use a Wix (or Napa Gold is same filter).

I usually use Mobil 1 Syn 5W30 with Mobil1 Oil Filter but yeah like i said I just had to get a Fram. I'm sure its no biggie until next time. I get oil tax free at the PX on base so I really didn't want to drive all the way to Autozone to get a oil filter. lol. I figured they weren't that good though.

I did.... what do you recommend? I don't want to spend $70-$10 on an oil filter.

PX oil price hasn't beaten autozone/advance auto oil special as of yet. There's always the 5QTS Mobil1Sync + a Mobil/Bosch filter for $27.99. Try finding that at your PX. Hahaha.

If 7 bucks is too much to spring for a quality filter ( ), you could try buying them online or in bulk and pick up a discount. I believe RockAuto has Wix for something like 5.50 or so. G/L

Yeah. I've always been more convenience over price sometimes. Fort Lewis has so much traffic everywhere and off-post as well. I'm getting out soon so I don't have to contend with all that much more. But now I gotta pay tax lol. Ew!

Fram's basic oil filters are poor. Their Extended Guard line is much better. For the money though, would go with WIX, Purolator PureOne or Mobil1 (if the latter is on sale).

What would you guys say is the best filter and best oil to get for our cars??
I'm would usually just use m1 oil and get their filter but is there something better or the best? Or do they all roughly "good" and it doesn't really matter which one you choose.

That's pretty much it. IMO the performance difference (excluding the really cheapo-s) isn't all that drastic.
