GERMAN CASTROL

This is a very thick oil for a 30 weight and helps keep the valve train noise level down. I have just switched over from mobil 1 5w30 and will send in the oil for testing on my next change. Online results rate GC as one of the best oils for the car and price is very cheap when you get the bundle deals from Autozone. Pair that up with a K&N filter and you have an awesome combination for keeping that engine well fed on oil.

I've been using Mobil1 5W30 full synthetic for several years now. Seem to be working pretty well so far.

It really bothers me when people type this crap in, m1 is not full synthetic lol.

Nothing of the shelf is "fully", in comparison GC 0W-30 is 70% synthetic.

Castrol Syntec is like 80% group III Hydrocrack oil, just like M1

Now the M1 EP might have more synthetic properties but its still not fully synthetic.

If you think I am mad and need to chill, I think you need to chill. I was merely stating something that I commonly see, it wasn't meant to be directed to any one specifically. Apparently you have a sore spot.

These threads always end up this way . I always thought Penzoil was crap, but I keep hearing it's a damn good oil, IDK. I put whatever the pocket can afford and my G will last just as long as anyone else, oh wait! 3/4 of us here will trade our **** in soon anyway hahaha.

I just use regular at the dealer... I think on the invoice it said they use Mobil, but its not synthetic. I figured getting it changed at 3750 on the dot with fresh oil is better than changing it 5000+ with synthetic... let me know what you guys think

Yes this is somewhat true but really depends on the quality of the synthetic. If you are using like MOTUL which is like a group iv/v synthetic then you could easily go 5000 miles with a k&n filter with no issues. You need to be more careful making sure oil is topped off and checking it every week. If the oil looks murky and dark then it is time to change it. In my opinion 3,000 miles on Dino and 5,000 miles on a TRUE QUALITY SYNTHETIC is fine.

Only mobil 1 oil I ever used was the MOBIL 1 Extended Performance 5w30. The Mobil 1 EPS oil is much better than EP.

Over the 30 years that I've owned cars I've used many brands of various qualities and never had any oil consumption issues or oil related problems. I am religious about changing every 3k w/ dino and lately 5k w/ Syn, and no, not the top grade stuff, just M1 5-30. Oil is so much better than it used to be, so I don't even think twice about it. I've got far more important things to do than worry if the oil I'm using will result in a a few more micro-particles of metal in the pan, which might shorten the life of my motor 10 years after I've moved on to another vehicle.
