I live in long island ny, and my coworkers go to a place that's reputable and has a life time warranty for 175.. I was gonna go get mine done next week until I read this thread and it raised questions.. for starters, wtf are the differences between ceramic, regular, etc... aren't all tints the same?

I tell ya.. u learn something new here everday.. love it!

My experience:

Metallic is out cause it interferes with electronics supposedly. I took the inter web hype at its word on that one. Have no personal experience. That leaves carbon vs. ceramic. Ceramic claims to block more heat. Neither carbon nor ceramic will mess up Bluetooth, radar, etc (again, Internet face value).

I say carbon and ceramic are a toss up. In my case, ceramic came with a better warranty, so that's why I got it.

Ceramic it is!... how can I tell its truly ceramic though? Are there any disinguishing features I can look out for so I know I didn't get screwed with regualar tints?

I don't know about anyone else..but my ceramic almost looks like it has somewhat of a reflection at different angles..like the mercs that come with the tint that isn't black but more reflective..i could be wrong however

Not sure if its been said in the pages of this thread before, but the price and availability of window tinting depends o nwhere you live. When I lived in Tallahassee, FL there were more tint shops than Starbucks by a wide margin. Plus since everybody was tinting, the costs were low.

I got my Accord sedan tinted 18% all around with completely covered rear window for $140 in Tallahassee. I got my G tinted 20% all around for $200 in Chicago's north burbs and that was alot cheaper than most places I talked to. Plus there are as many tint shops in the entire city of Chicago as there are in little old Tallahassee
