AT shift **** has a button. Can I put an aftermarket shift **** on without a button?

Do you guys know what I'm talking about? The automatic transmission **** has a button that press to move it to Reverse, Drive, Neutral.

I see the M45 replacement for sale. I was thinking about getting it cause mine is scratched (I bought used). But does the lack of a button mess you up? Is there some sort of complicated "button override" mod that has to be done? Cause if so I'll just buy a replacement G35 ****, I guess.

Thanks for any knowledge.

Later.

It just doesn't lock so it can be accidentally shifted but not a big issue

Accidentally shifted to reverse? Usually that's what the button is for, right? So you don't just jam it in? Or am I showing my ignorance here. That's just an assumption on my part as to why there is a button in the first place.

That is what I've heard from others who have switched to a buttonless gear shift. Yeah the whole point of the button is to lock it so you don't hit reverse or park in certain instances

The RA89 is buttonless but still locks. If you take your shift **** off you'll see a blue trigger mechanism that pushes down. When it reach's a certain point down the lock is not engaged anymore. Most of the AT shift ***** will come with a seat that the shift **** sits around that will keep it the right height so it still locks but will still shift also

Meh. I think I'll just wind up sanding off the scratches of my current one and putting it back on.

I think the former owner wore a lot of rings or something.

Yeah it happens. The oil from your hands really deteriorates at the leather there after awhile also.

Interesting. Well if that's the case I'll steer clear of the M45 ****. If I replace, I'll go for the machined aluminum type. Thanks.
