I think i have the worst luck ever....

I ordered rc2 intakes and got them on wend night. Put them in went cruising that night. Loved them. The sound is good car pulls a bit harder no complaints.

Until yesterday.

It was hot outside about 85-90. I shifted out of 2nd to 3rd around 3.5-4k rmp
my car went to shut off. Pulled over the tubes them self where hot to the touch. Went on the highway got to my sisters house poped the hood and just let them air cool. I also took some wet paper towls and put them on the pipes they cooled off a lot quicker. Went home its about 5 to 10 miles to my house the car shut off twice in that time, and when i got home the tubes where extremely hot.

Did anyone else have a similar issue......

I connected r2c they told me to call a person from there. Which i will do today after work.

Check your MAF. My car did that the same thing when I Replace my CAI Filter. All you have to do is Clean you your MAF sensor with MAF cleaner and you will be good to go. Once I did that the car has never turned off on me while driving.

+1 on the MAF. The filter could have been over oiled.

There's no way that incoming air was being heated to the extent that it caused your engine problem. At 3500 rpm, that air wasn't in contact with the piping long enough to make any appreciable difference in it's temperature.

+1, besides, they're PLASTIC and don't conduct/transfer heat well.

You have a different problem other than the intakes.

I had the R2C intakes on my G and decided to remove them back to stock prior to taking the car into the stealership for service. I too couldn't believe how hot they were to the touch after a short drive! And, after going back to stock, it seemed like the car was faster! I do live in Miami where the air is crazy hot this time of year, but I was still surprised. Does those smoking hot tubes affect performance as air flows through them? I don't know, but I'm sure it doesn't help!

I pretty much view the R2C now as an intake that provides a nice sound at WOT, but probably costs you a few hp in real world summer driving. Just my opinion from the butt-dyno and not backed up by any data.

If I put them back on, I may use the velcro heat wraps I used to use on my S55 intakes. At least that would shield the tubes a bit.....

Hot tubes are normal and no they dont affect performance, like VQ said the air is moving through so fast that it hardly gets to be affected by the hot tubes at rpms over 2k, in fact these tubes cool off quicker since they dissipate heat quickly, the problem occurs when intakes without shields suck in hot air which diminishes low end power.

My tubes also get very hot..but at 3,000 RPMs or any for that matter..the car moves so fast that it really wont change in temp

Its probably your MAF

Trust me i have bad luck as well..have a steering vibration from ****ty tires/wheels and i don't have almost 2K to get a whole new set up and already had an engine blow up on me in this car

Wonder whats next...
