Was driving today in DS mode when I downshifted to a lower gear, car began to slow as normal. Then, it started to "speed up" a little. Looked at the dash and sure enough, the car switched back to D itself. Moving from D to DS did nothing. Shut the car off and tried again and it was fine for a minute or so then didn't work again.
****, gotta make another trip to the dealer.

bring it to dealership, your going to need a shifter assembly, eventually only D will work. Happened to me, its a known issue.

been complaining about this to the dealership for a while, glad they finally were able to do something about it. i am getting the "shifter solenoid" replaced under warranty from the dealership.

You mean after they fixed it you could only use regular D??Originally Posted by G35Xsport2008

No. Before they fix it, your trans will only work in D, as DS will eventually stop working (as mine has just done)Originally Posted by finni

I know it's a known issue, this was more of a rant thread as I have to drive to the dealership and waste a day off

Mine does this every summer from June to August and then works perfectly fine from September to May of the following year LOL. I personally think that heat has something to do with it.

I'd do it myself If I knew which part exactly is being replaced. It should be a direct swap, nothing major. The console is not difficult to open up either. Can someone give us part numbers?Originally Posted by terrycs
Just curious, anyone here try fixing this themselves?

Sucks to know my crap is gonna go out soon. I only have bumper to bumper extended warranty now. sucks.

great, wth so if you dont have any issues before warranty is up you have the option to have the solenoid installed, as a TSB?

I believe it is a part of the shifter assembly...send me a PM if you would like me to scan in the service document.
