Steering wheel shake after new tires???

Long story short, I just got new Michelen tires put on my 08 G35X before my drive out to Kansas City from Connecticut. On the drive, I noticed a significant but not substantial amount of vibration coming through my steering wheel when going in the range of 60-75 mph. I figure it's due to the new tires, as they have a pretty deep tread but I'm not positive. Another one of my theories is that somehow my mechanic cracked a rim when putting the new rubber on the rims. My last thought is that the tires could just use an alignment if it wasn't done properly when the new tires were put on.

I'm pretty sure it's just due to the new tires so I'm planning on getting some new fronts when I get back to CT at the end of the summer but I'm going to eliminate the other possibilities in the meantime. What I'm wondering from my fellow G drivers is what front tires would you recommend? I'm looking for maximum grip with minimum shake/play in my wheel as I'm sure most other drivers are.

Thoughts??????

Personally, I'd never run different tires on the fronts than I have on the rears unless it was specifically for drag runs or something, but a DD, no way.

This definitely sounds like they were not balanced properly.

As for running different tires front to back - it can be done. It's not ideal I guess, but I ran mismatched tires front to rear for a long time with zero issues (and my G is my daily). I would suggest getting everything balanced first before setting your sights on new tires. Getting them balanced shouldn't cost you much (if anything) and will likely fix your problem.

+1 on the balancing of the wheels, also check to make sure that your rotors are not warped or bent. When I hit a curb this winter, everything checked out OK, but I had a persistent shaking at around 70MPH. It turned out to be a bent rotor.

On to the tires check out tire rack and read the reviews of the tires, my personal All season favorites are as follows:
1. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus
2. Pirelli PZero Nero All Season
3. Yokohama ADVAN S.4
4. Kumho Ecsta ASX
5. Yokohama AVID EnVigor
6. Continental Extreme Contact DWS
7. Hankook Ventus V4 ES

I think that for the money you can't go wrong with the Kumho's. However these are my suggestions and you should make your own informed decision.

I see a lot of you are saying it's ok to run different, mismatched tires front and rears. The OP has an X model and presumably still under warranty. If he runs different tires and has transmission or differential problems (coincidence or not), Infiniti will likely void any warranty.
That being said, the guys are right, you got a bad new tire or they aren't properly balanced.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'm going to get them balanced in the coming weeks when I can find the time and let you all know if this solves the problem. I'm hoping this is the issue so I don't have to replace a rim or sit on these Michelin's for a few years in steering misery

I just put Michelin Pilot pro sports on my 18" wheels and had the same problem. The damn Mieneke shop where the tires were delivered from Tire Rack hadn't balanced them correctly.

Took the car to Infiniti and they properly balanced them (for free!) and the shake was gone.

Wait...you pay $300 for balancing? Wtf?

Balancing usually costs at most $10-$15 a tire...

You're looking at a $60 max for balancing.

Even with an alignment, you're looking at around $150 max for alignment and balancing.

Walmart does lifetime balancing for $7.50 per tire.
