Quote: "A Dealer cannot void a warranty due to the presense of aftermarket parts unless they can prove that the parts in question caused damage to the car itself." -.
Everyone uses this phrase in reference to warranty because of the Maguson-Moss Act. First off, A dealer can refuse to work on anything that's not in its original manufactured state, secondly tell that to the folks here trying to get a steering wheel replaced when their car is still under warranty, and the steering wheel hasn't been modified.

Seriously? (That's usually more difference than people hope to gain with an aftermarket cai)

Why even do it then? If it's just to make a vroom vroom sound, you can always get one of these:

Resetting the ecu shouldn't hurt anything, but I doubt you're taking 'extra' air in with this mod; more like you're just letting 'extra' noise out.

I've heard two different ways but never tried it
1 - unplug the neg battery for 24 hours or
2 - unplug neg from battery and depress brake for ten secs
