Costly Oil Change for Dealership

So today I went to my local Nissan dealership to change my oil (took my own oil as usual) All is fine, until it was time to get back in my car. This is what I saw as soon as I opened my door. I immediately got the same service writer that wrote up my ticket and took him outside and showed it to him. He drove it back in the service bay, called the service manager and he took a look at it. They will call me back today or Monday to let me know when the new seat will be there and when to drop my car off for the replacement.

I'm not even upset, they will make it right without argument. Guess one of the folks that moved my car had a tool in their back pocket. Funny thing is I was watching the guy as he was changing my oil as the have 3 clear view glass windows from the waiting area to the service bay. He took longer with my car than another car that came in after mine right next to mine, he stop and was on the cell phone but at that time I didn't know what was going on. I thought he was just waiting for the oil to settle to check new level (he prob was), or maybe he saw what had happened and called someone and said he fck'ed up (speculation). Either way I don't care, I just want my new seat. I have serviced my car there before tranny flush, diff fluid change etc, and I will return for future service. Accidents do happen.

That's unfortunate, but like you said, they're making it right without any argument and that counts for a lot! I know just how easily this can happen because I have a scratch on my driver's seat from sitting down with a pair of needle nose pliers in my back pocket. I was SOOO pissed, but I had no one to blame (or fix it) but myself.

Glad yours is coming out ok though.

I would figure they would cheap out and just change the leather out rather than buying an entirely new seat

You're lucky the guys at Nissan agreed to take care of this, Infiniti would have denied any responsibility.

Glad they owned up to the issue, they could have made this a nightmare oil change for you had they decided to lie and make this difficult... And pretty sure they will just change out the bottom seat cover and maybe the cushion, dont think they will swap out the entire seat.

This is one reason, I try to diy as much as possible. If the people working on our cars cared about them as much as we do, fine. Unfortunately that is not the case.

Precisely!! That's what I meant, not the entire seat. Sorry for the misleading info
