Need opinions for Tint for Blue Slate Sedan
Hi again, Just got my plates, registration and inspection. Now that its official, i would like to get it tinted. I have read on the forums quite a bit about this but want to know what you guys think. Im looking to get %20 for back windows and %35 for front windows (not windshield). I have black leather interior and want to know if i should cut around the back window light or not? Can owners of blue slate show me their blue slate with tint cut around the light and those that covered the entire window (only pictures with black interior). I'm in Brooklyn NY and want to know if its a good idea to get two different shades? or possible just get the rear windows and back window %20 and leave the front clear? Need opinions. Sorry for the long post.

Personally I don't like mixing tint %. By going 20% rear and 35% front, the fronts will look darker then if you went 35% all-around. This might get you more attention (police) then 35% all-around would. I don't know the legal limits in NY but in IA you basically can't have front window tint. I have 35% all-around, which is relatively light IMO, and have still received a tint warning - on the Interstate none-the-less.
If you can't do front tint in your state, I would just do the rear 3 and leave the front alone. I prefer that look to two different shades of tint.. just me though. Also I did not cut out around the light; not sure how that would look / why you would want to do that.

I am considering just tinting it %20 for both rear windows and back window and leaving front clear. the cutout around the light is only due to other members here saying they cut it around the light thinking it would be better for the light output. IMO, i think it looks way better completly covered, but is it a hassle removing the light? would it be obvious if i cut around it since i have black interior? I know it looks bad with wheat interior that cut around the light because it really stands out.

From the pics I've seen of tint w/ the cutout, it looks really obvious regardless of the interior. Light output isn't much of a concern as you still have two very bright brake lights. I guess tint would be a factor on light output, on mine 35% over the brake light doesn't do much to dampen it. As far as removing it I have no idea; I dropped my car off and when I came back the tint was magically applied.

Here is the first G I had. I had no idea they would cut around the light and I asked them for a redo.

My new G is basically like the second pic ( the X is now an S )
FWIW I had 35% on the 07x with wheat interior and now I have 20% with graphite interior. Most of the time I can hardly notice a difference in the tint.
