how to spray plasti dip correctly?
I read up on the subject of plasti dipping grills many times, and from what I read the recommended spray amount is 3 coats. However, there's no mention of what a proper way to spray it onto the grill is.... do I hold the spray down till it completely coats the chrome or go back and forth from left and right in 3 passes (with curing breaks inbetween)
I don't want to get the over sprayed bumpy look so was wondering on the technique. Thanks!

Just do light coats at the distance specified on the can, and let it dry properly before spraying the next coat. I did 4 coats and it's still holding up well after over a year.
Also, it's prety forgiving in the sense that if you spray it too thick in one place it'll even itself out (to an extent).

plastidip is EXTREMELY forgiving. As long as you do not spray it until it starts to drip, you will be fine. That said, you can spray heavier coats than you can with paint. Definitely let it dry a good 20 minutes between coats. I applied about 6 coats.
6 coats? Wow... ill give it a try!
I would say definitely between 4 to 6 coats, sprayed at a reasonable distance. Not too close of course to avoid overspraying/dripping. You could also sand the chrome surface if you're planning on this being permanent, since the rough surface will make the plasti dip compound adhere.
I had my grill removed, which was a real pain. In retrospect I wonder if I could've done it without removing it at all...

Don't sand the grille just clean it well. The Plasti Dip wont come off unless you pull it off.

I saw the pics.... Ummm there was no mention of putting something behind the grill to cover the radiator.. am I missing something? Cause if the radiator is covered with plasti dip I am pretty sure that's gonna cause overheating or reduction in heat exchange and infiniti prolly wont cover it under warranty.
Grill is simple to remove, this DIY is the best I've found, it really did only take 10 minutes and makes the center emblem easy to remove too. This will allow you to completely paint the grill so you won't have to worry about the areas around the edges not getting a good amount of paint.

I just Plasti-dipped my grille, and the sun started going down as I was wrapping up. I'm assuming it came out good, but I'll wait till tomorrow morning, when I realize that one of my headlights is black, haha. One thing I noticed though, is a fair amount of overspray on top of the hood and the front license plate bracket. I hear (hoping) that alcohol and a piece of cloth will make removing the overspray a breeze? Any ideas? I'll post pics tomorrow.
