that's clutch chatter, but it seems very loud.

Could be your clutch is on its way out. How does it shift?

Is there any possibility that (as a result of the recent work done) the exhaust or heat shielding is rubbing on the tranny somewhere? It could be that the chatter is resonating through the exhaust or shielding which amplifies it like a soundboard.

Mine is just like that. Infiniti replaced my tranny at 7k for input shaft bearing issue and excessive gear wine. So, the noise I have is post replacement. I'm at almost 94k. The noise doesn't bother me anymore. But, if you are under warranty, and have time on your hands, see what they will do for you.

Mine rattled quite a bit before too... almost sounded like a diesel...

It is much quieter now that I got a new transmission though.

Yep, but I got it replaced for a 6th gear grinding issues completely unrelated to the chatter.

Same here. 5th and 6th grind on top of the gear whine, all at 7k. Usually when something is manufactured wrong, it surfaces early.

I have the same problem, not nearly as loud. 5th gear also grinds, and I have never slammed a gear in this car. '03 6mt w/76k miles. It's still under warranty but the dealerships obviously stick with the excuse that it's "normal" and "nothing to worry about as they all do it."

I too was also wondering if that noise was a normal thing for our cars. Glad I found an answer to my question. Mine only makes the noise after the car is at running temp and the clutch is in neutral.

I think mine does it too but it's not that loud as posted in the video...

Pretty sure it's normal on our cars.. Although it shouldn't be too loud.. I don't notice it unless I'm standing next to the car trying to listen to it..
