hey fellers i just purchased a 2008 infiniti sedan 6MT 40K miles.
I was wondering if your guys' car rattles when you're idle or is there something wrong with my car?

If you are referring to the clutch chatter then yes, it is normal, but still annoying. It is the loudest when I am in line at fast food joints and my window is open.

 

Does the car make the noise when you have the clutch pedal depressed? It is not normal to hear any clutch chatter with the pedal in; should only do it when idling in neutral with the pedal released.

 

My car does that too. It is louder when my AC is on.

 

it is only when my car is on idle it makes that metal clinking sound. ive been told from a friend it's normal for g35's and the 350z's

its the injectors clicking and quite normal.

 

^ actually thats not what he's referring to since that sound(injectors) is very muted and hardly noticeable and is as you said 'clicking' sound and not rattling... in this case its the clutch chatter as many have said before which is quite common with these cars after a lot of clutch action.

 

I had a rattling sound a little while ago, turned out to be the heat shield.

 

Aha!! Find my answer after searching in the past week flipping the pages! I'm glad my car is not broken at least that's what I though until I read this. Thanks and yes it's annoying on the fast food tunnel it's embarrassing

 

were you able to fix the clinking sound?

 

it was a rattling sound the heat shield was making cuz it was all rusted up. i just had to take it off.

 

Heat shields are over-rated! lulz, where was the heat shield that you took off? my exhaust is rattling on something at low RPMs and I havent had the chance to crawl under there. I hate it because it sounds like my car is a piecer, but I have a bunch of stuff done to it! Glad you found the culprit.

 

My car was waaaay loud before they replaced my transmission. Now its silent.


However, when its cold sometimes, it will make a grind after i let the clutch out. Its really quick and only happens when the car is cold.
