Dealership Made a Mistake... Never!

I just brought my 07 G35s back into the dealership after getting my transmission oil changed (6MT) for having difficulty shifting gears after getting the transmission service done. As soon as I sat down my adviser mentioned they put a heavier weight oil in by mistake.

My question is, will this have any long term issues with the syncro's or Transmission? I have driven roughly 500 miles with the wrong oil.

I would assume the transmission got worn out faster then usual. Did they do you any courtesy by at least looking at the transmission afterwards?

Assuming you weren't experiencing massive gear clash/grind while the thicker oil was in (just sticky and cumbersome shifting), and if it's working properly after swapping in the proper thinner oil, then I would say NO, I don't think you'll have to be concerned.

I can appreciate how irritating it must be, but I seriously doubt in the long run you'll notice any slight wear difference caused by the mixup.

500 miles of "normal" driving shouldn't have hurt anything, but keep an eye on it for leaks and abnormal behavior. Plus, start searching for a better service center

Uhmm....Guys, as I read the OP's post, he's says he's got a 6MT. Where are you all getting this whole ATF issue from?
