Driving to work this morning and I'm literally at 99,979 miles. . . and the
effing service engine soon light comes on!

Could it be a simple maintenance reminder at 100k?

The tranny fluid change is over due. . .but I doubt this is the problem . .. any ideas anyone?

You can scroll through the service reminder menu to see what it is set at. I personally turned mine off.

A check engine light needs to be read. Since you have a lot of miles, I think it's worthwhile for you to go and buy a OBDII reader and see what diagnostic code(s) get pulled.

power steering fluid & coolant were a tad low . . . I'll try that on my lunch break

Anyone know if the car has sensors to measure these fluid levels?

 

Most likely a 02 sensor... But I would still get the code read... Don't be lazy on changing fluids..... It will cost you more in the long wrong

 

Not to be a dyk, but if this is how you keep up with the maintenance on your car, then don't be surprised or angry when things start breaking

 

You're being a "dyk" to assume so much. Oh what every time you check your fluid levels they are where they should be? Or are there times you need to top them off? So does that mean you don't maintain your car?

I never assumed anything, you admitted that your fluids were low, so it's a fact, not assumption.

I open my hood about once or twice a week and make sure all is on the up and up. if something is low or is scheduled to be changed, I do it right away.

Guess I'm a bit OCD about it.

no harm . . . I do get touchy about my car! regular wax, regular maintenance(i'm only 5k off my tranny flush).

Auto Zone does a free "Check Engine Light" check. They wont fix it, but they will tell you the code.

 

^ Same with Advanced Auto, you can read the error code and clear it as well.
