Near 100K, dreaded "service engine soon"
Might even be something as simple as not tightening the gas cap. I had that code in my Altima few times.
Beware that Autozone/whoever won't read codes in California. There's some state law that makes it illegal for them to read codes. Yay CA.

I don't believe they do in Cali.anymore; got outlawed a few years ago here. Try a Midas muffler shop instead.
Ok I suppose I have a story to tell since I said I'd update you all.
After reading this post I got to thinking.
The previous night I was part of a bowling tournament. . . losers buy pitchers,
tournament style.
We end up making to the final so quite a bit of bowling and people buying us drinks.
I had taken a cab there with my partner, needless to say I was in no condition to drive. . .
GF picks me up in my car, I ask her to take me by the gas station to get gas for the next mornings drive. I was buzzin. . . .and after checking the gas cap yesterday . . . . I realized my stupid *** didn't tighten it very much at all! This was the problem.
lol sorry for the false call guys. I'm just glad I have no serious issues. . .thanks for who ever offered their help!
dont drink and pump! Esp dont drink and drive!
Lol... good one. keep us posted on more stories like this lol
:-)

PS fluid was just slightly below the min level, coolant wasn't too bad either, but it does look like I need to change out a hose because there was some moisture and anti freeze residue.
Yeah I turned my service reminder off as well. . .
power steering fluid & coolant were a tad low . . /QUOTE]
Ouch... if those fluid levels are low you have some leaks. I suppose coolant could evaporate over all these years if never changed but low power steering fluid is a problem.

Happened to me within the 1st two weeks I bought the car... a gas station attendant did not tighten the gas cap, so G threw a code. It was pretty upsetting to see a check engine light on a two-week old G
Glad there was a happy ending, but feel like I should add my two cents even though it doesn't provide much value.
AFAIK plugs only throw a code if there is a misfire...correct? Not when they are getting old and should be replaced as part of regular maintainence?
In my experience a misfire code is usually a coil.
