Wah! Rear-ended!
What does it mean to go after them for depreciation?[/QUOTE]
It's called diminution in value and is a damage you are entitled to. The insurer for the at fault driver will be paying to repair your G and will be paying for your rental car. Another property damage is the diminution in value meaning the lost value due to this accident. Obviously the more valuable the car and the more significant the damage, the higher the loss in value. It's simple, say there are two identical used cars, and one has been in an accident. Which car would you want for the same price? The lost value, determined following the repair, is the diminution in value and you can make a claim for it. Your user name makes me think of Ray Lewis and therefore you might be in Maryland. If you are, I know an attorney who is a car buff and has made a specialty of this cause of action. If you need that info, let me know.

I heard him admit to the cop that he was following too close and couldn't avoid the collision with me. The cop told me he got a citation. While we were waiting for the cops to show up his friend came by and asked him if this was his first accident. It was. I would say he was around 17 or possibly 18. I know he was getting earful from his parents when he called them from the scene.
