So I have a extra cluster that I was going to do a LED swap on the centre info read out. After pulling it all apart I've decided against it. I could swap out any of the other L.E.D.'s but it's the info readout I wanted to change. It would easier to buy a 09+ Gauge cluster and just swap the LCD screen. But pics for fun.

Nope. The cluster is 100% usable. I've already re-assembled it.Originally Posted by salvador312

Can that be done? Can you swap gauge clusters from the 09+ models? I'd really love to do this, the blue LED screen is much better in my opinion, one thing I really liked about them.

Really? So you pre-calibrated and marked the needle location before you pulled the needles?Originally Posted by MrRage

+1 Granted, it can be done, but it's typically not within the average DIY'ers realm of expertise. Maybe he's got it goin' on. Originally Posted by TunerMax

We'll have to wait for him to chime in to find out

The needles lock at the same point they come to rest at. They were marked in this location. They were not hard to get off. This is not my first gauge cluster disassembly

Granted, I'm unfamilliar with the 2007/08 clusters. As far as I've ever seen on any clusters, the spot that they 'stop', is where the needle hits a mechanical stop on the calibrated end (~0~), and where the end of the wind is on the upper limit.Originally Posted by MrRage

They're calibrated backwards from the upper limit normally.
This means if you removed the mechanical stop from the speedo, the needle would actually drop more.
I've done a lot of clusters too, and I've NEVER heard of one that you didn't have to pre-calibrate before removing the needles.
Granted, you CAN ofcourse, NOT calibrate them, and they'll "work" but they'll be way off on their readings.
