My problem is the opposite of what everyone is experiencing. I have cleaned my throttle bodies twice, and my MAF once, and my car still idles low, like it wants to stall and turn off. What can be the problem? Do I need to do the relearn procedures? Arent the relearn procedures for surging idle only? Any ideas?

I like a moron moved the valve while cleaning.

Now idles just above 1000 in park and 800 in Drive. Kinda moves up and down a little as well.
Been like that for about a week.

Tried all the steps. Got all the noises and blinky lights like I should. Idled the car for about 10 minutes.....nothing changed.

Went for a drive....BLAM!!!!! I get the Service Engine Soon Light.

Big FU to Nissan!

^ agreed, these electronic TB need to be reset at times when cleaned no matter what car brand it is, there is a reset procedure for it and if you dont follow it EXACTLY and time it correctly then you just have to keep redoing it until you get it done or else take it to the dealer and let them take care of it for now and in the future to avoid this headache since it can be a pain to get it right even after numerous tries. having done it a hundred times, even now i need 3 attempts on average.

I'm at 63K miles or so, and I have never had even a hint of any hesitation, stumbling idle, idle fluctuations, or anything. Besides that my gas mileage is as good as it's ever been, so I'm not planning on doing a darn thing to the throttle bodies until I have a good reason to.

BUT . . . If I ever have to do it, I'm planning on just visiting kool so he can do the reset for me.

Were they DBW though, or a mechanical linkage? Big difference there.

Very good question....now that I think about it....2 VW were DBW but only 1 Jeep was DBW.

Honestly, cleaning TB's shouldn't be necessary on these engines unless somethings pretty darned wrong with your car, and has been for a while.

Carbon just doesn't creep into Throttle bodies like it used to on cars, the intake designs are so much better that it just doesn't really happen.

^^THIS. Comparing the two is ridiculous. Any Drive By wire setup is prone to this issue. That's because you're not supposed to touch the butterfly valve. That's the way it is, if you want to drive any new car, get used to this new procedure.

Rather, just give up cleaning your TB, it's not fruitful like it used to be. Leave it alone.

I got all the indications that I did the reset right and i got the SES light after driving.

I ended up unplugging the ground to remove the light, but I am reluctant to keep trying the reset. I imagine I will break the dam car.

I plan on getting my ECM reflashed on a cruise control TSB...maybe they can reset it then.
