Hey, I just wanted to get some opinions on a shift kit or a grounding kit. I may do a grounding kit but I have heard great things about a shift kit. For the price, is it worth getting a shift kit? Please let me know what you think.

 

not unless you are going Forced induction and doing it for protection of the transmission. its like a grand installed, and i personally dont like tearing apart things like transmissions and engines unless theres something wrong with them. the grounding kit helps a bit, but not by much. if youve got about $70 laying around PM Blackbetty. thats where i bought my grounding kit from. they are great quality.

 

Well ive heard that Sean's are pretty good. Do u notice a difference? Was is worth the money?

 

For guys who are into grounding kit, I ordered two 4 gauge cable with both ends mounted, heat wrapped for $24. Those worked like champs. Smoother shifting and a louder stereo systems are noticeable. I'm not trying to drive customers away from those who are selling grounding kits so don't take my comment as offense. I'm just giving a true feedback on my own experience.

A grounding kit improves the electrical aspect of the shifting and the shift kit handles the mechanical side.

I have a shift kit in mine and I can say for certain that the time in between gears will be significantly reduced regardless whether or not the car has FI.

Another alternative is that the tranmission programming can now be modified using OSIRIS.

Both of these solutions are quite a bit more than grounding kits.

 

Grounding kit = Responsivness

Shift Kit = Mechanical

I have SxExCx's grounding kit and I really like it.

 

Does Osiris program the TCU? What parameters can be altered and how does it compare to installing a Transgo shift kit?
A friend of mine installed a shift kit on his G sedan, stock transmission programming, shifting under load/rpm is fast and smooth except for 2-->3, it kicks pretty hard. Is this the case with all G's?

 

A shift kit is gonna cost you about 6 times as much as a grounding kit. just installed mine from SXEXCX about 10 min ago. very happy, great instructions, you cant go wrong. For the money its worth it.

 

If you are the least bit mechanically inclined, a shift kit can be done on your own. $240ish for the kit, whatever for the replacement fluid and sweat equity. I did mine with a friend in a bit over an hour. Just have to pay close attention to all the little pieces and parts. You're only removing the valvebody from the bottom of the tranny. You're not disassembling the whole tranny.

 

Grounding kit really helps out a lot for AT transmission

 

Yea but then you gotta pay for about 8qt of nissan AT fluid so that's another 80-120 bucks


Id go with the SxExCx grounding kit.

I have both and you can't really feel the shift kit inless you really step on it

 

Won't be 8 Qts. You're only replacing what came out of the pan. I feel the shift kit all the time. But that's because I have a lead foot.

 

Yes, OSIRIS modifies the TCU. I understand GTM is using it now as an alternative for FI cars.

 

It was 8 for me but the again I have a 06
