iPod integration with Nav screen?

Hey guys!

Just got myself a new (well new to me at least) 07 g35 sedan and I freaking LOVE it!

I'm a complete audiophile, so my biggest question is trying to find out if there's any sort of coverer or cable I can have installed that allows me to control my iPod from the navigation screen? One that shows the title of the song and artist on the screen? I would assume the dealership might have something like this but obviously you guys would know better than me.

If not, is there a way I can install something where I can run my music through an SD card or something like that?

Mainly, my goal is to get high quality music programmed with the nav screen. Not interested in using CD's due to my versatile choice in music.

And I know, newb question all the way so flame away, I can take it =).

But serious answers definitely ARE appreciated.

Thanks and I look forward to joining the community!!

First off welcome and congrats.

I believe the 07 needs a $300 ipod adapter installed to make that functionality work. I have an 08 and its a $60 cable. When I went to purchase my cable they tried to sell me the $300 one cuz they thought it was an 07. Car Toys may have a cheaper option. Hop that helps.

AFAIK ipod integration wasn't available until 08, so I don't think you can control the ipod with an 07, may as well stick with the audio inputs. I'm not sure what a $300 cable gets you. In 08 the ipod input is a proprietary cable to ipod input, cable can be had for around 25-30$ on ebay. I believe 2010 and later, the ipod input is just a normal usb port.

Thanks for the help!

Do you by chance know where I can get this part? Cost really isn't an issue when it comes to this one.

Thanks again!

^^ never mind just seen that you have nav.
I was looking online to see if I could find anything by in a quick search only things for non-nav. Call you local dealer and ask them. Thats who told me it was $300. ill do a little more looking but the quickest would be to call the dealer.

Here is one where you can charge at the same time

you would need this
Amazon Amazon

Plus Something like this
Amazon Amazon

I know neither of these will allow you to control your ipod from the LCD screen but I think you may be out of luck since you have Navigation (like myself)

If you have navigation, then you have a CF Card Slot

Get yourself a CF Card SD Card Adapter like this one that I'm using in my car

Amazon Amazon

I load up my SD Card and shove it in this CF Card adapter. Always drive around with high quality music

I can control the song selection from the screen and steering wheel

Gotcha, don't think he is going to have any luck. the Ipod Integration wasn't offered in our Year (2007) and for the Ipod controls to show up on the screen, would require different software which isn't happening.

I just found out that I actually DONT have Navigation..

I came from a BMW so when you had a screen in your car, it was assumed you had navigation. No satellite radio, just the screen.

Does this affect anything?

Well that sort of sucks, because you are missing out on some great features, but on the other hand reading thru this thread may help
