My G35X is 5 years old. I was a bit surprised to see signs of rust already.

This is below the silver trim on the verticle lip of the trunk.About 1/8 in diameter. There are other spots as well

Warrarty only covers surface rust for 4 years, and perforation for 7.

So, as I am at 5 years, so do I have to hope if perforates the metal before I can get make a claim?

 

Unfortunately i have seen about a dozen people complain about this on the exact spot on their trunks but it is NOT normal, and from what i remember one person got the dealer to sand down and repaint his trunk after some pushing. i would take it into the dealership and let them have a look at it, not really possible for them to blame this on you and cheat you out of a warranty repair since it will only get worse.
