I looked through the owners manual, but I may have over looked the answer.

When you have the Auto head lights on and its getting dark or is dark outside, are the headlights supposed to come on when you unlock the car? Or open the door? Or just come on when you start the car only?

The reason I ask is 2 times since I've owned the car (February 2012) with the auto head lights on and its been dusk out, unlocked the car and the headlights came on. It only happens randomly and I can never get the car to do it again myself.

Is this maybe a glitch or something? I dont understand why it has done this if its not supposed to.

 

Yeah its happened to me a few times. When i hit unlock from the door and open it, it would turn on which is pretty cool. Its normal but it doesnt happen all the time.. idunno why

 

Only time the lights came on when I unlocked my car was when i accidentally left my headlights in the ON position. I'm thinking this is what you did unknowingly as well.

Otherwise, when set to AUTO, they will come on when you start the car.

FYI If you accidentally leave your headlights in the ON position and you leave your car...they will still turn off on their own after a couple of minutes.

 

They should come on when you start the car.

Happens to me too on some occasions. After unlocking the door, then opening it i can get them to turn on. But then they turn off when i close the door before i turn the engine on.

 

It has never happened to me, but it would be a nice detail

 

Nah it happened to me today. I got in, closed the door, didnt turn off. Oh and no my headlights wasnt left ON. It was on AUTO. Its pretty cool
