Clutch engagement question

How do I check if my clutch is fully engaged?

I just installed the RJM bracket and just wanna make sure it's all going well.

There should always be a small amount of play in the pedal itself. The play should be before the pedal actually starts acting on the MC plunger. This ensures full clutch engagement with the pedal fully off the floor.

How small? That's up to you. Stock has about 1/4-3/8" of an inch.

Some folks don't like this play and have adjusted it out. I suppose you could do that, but it's not something i'd do on my car. This play also permits for slight expansion/contraction as the trans parts heat up/cool down.

Another way to check is to be in 3rd/4th gear, ~40 mph, and punch it. If the rpm's increase in proportion to speed, you most likely are fully engaged.

What do the instructions that came with the RJM bracket suggest?

My question was "how do I check if the clutch is fully engaging/disengaging ?"

For checking the fully disengaging you just need to do the tests outlined on the last pages of the install guide. Real quick though if the clutch is still dragging severely with the pedal fully depressed then you won;t be able to get into first at all. It'll be totally blocked.

If*its just dragging slightly then you'll feel resistance pushing into first followed by a "Bump" feeling in the shifter as it clunks in. In either case you'd need to turn the clutch rod out some until it goes away or lower the AFP setting slightly and try again.

I've found that with my factory clutch I'm good on all tests with the initial friction point set to roughly 3/4" to 1" up from the bottom hard stop. You can test this on level ground by coming to a complete stop, clutch in fully, go to first and then very slowly let the clutch up a little at a time and see just where the RPMs start to dip and the car just starts to creep forward. If it starts to creep right at the floor then you need about 1 additional turn out on the clutch rod to raise the friction point a little.

i guess i do have some play . my pedals jus not as loose as the other cars where the play is really obvious. my pedal is still stiff within the play range so thats why i never noticed it. does this sound right for other 6mt g35s out there?
