VQ56 swap with VQ35HR. Possible? Pros/cons?
i know i have seen this asked before but searched and didnt come up with anything...
i am very curious about how it would turn out putting a NA VQ56 engine from a QX or an M into a 2nd Gen G sedan...
I definitely dont have money for this any time in the near future but i just wondered what would be required and a rough estimate of how much parts would be for something like this. any information would be helpful!
1) estimated price for parts alone
2) how hard would it be for one to do themselves or with friends to help
3) how long it would take
4) what parts would be required? (my main question)
5) what about transmission work, body/chassis work, etc (my second main question)
6) if i did take it somewhere to have the work done, what is a price range for EVERYTHING i wpould need including labor? <$5K, >$5K, >$10K, etc?
7) what would be advantages of this swap? disadvantages?
i would definitely be interested in doing this in a year or two if its possible
Thanks!

It would be super expensive...
For these costs you can go with a Twin Turbo build and have a higher potential to make more CONTROLLABLE power. The V8 will be way too much for such a light chassis and future upgrades will be costly as well.
If you invest the same amount of energy and desire into the 6cyl motor you will have a controlled beast.

there won't be a market for it since the LS swap is already figured out.
Your options are $10K for a TT set-up, $10K for an LS swap, or trade-in your car and buy a faster car that is $10K more expensive.
I hate the sound of the LS series engine for some reason, it just clashes with something musical in my brain...and I've listened to tons of sound clips. Especially big lopey cams. I've always hated 3/4 time signature too so maybe it's in that meter.

I think this thread was a fail lol but I learned from it and I'm gonna look more into an NA LS1/2.. btw what's the difference between LS1 and LS2?

If you have to ask, it's probably not for you. If you want more power in your G, do like everyone else says and get a turbo/supercharger. If you really want to do an engine swap and some cutting/welding in a shop for six months get a cheap crap car that lots of people swap a LS engine into and try that first. (I'm thinking RX-7, but there are lots of options and people to help you and sell you stuff you need so you don't have to invent it.) If you absolutely must do it, then your best bet is to find a donor car or truck from a wrecking yard and get the engine/transmission, wiring harness, computer and everything else.
Would you be looking to keep the car smog legal? If so, the price just went through the roof. And if not, then why not just go the FI route? But, if you did go with an LS swap, I'd go with the LS3.
Well you probably mean the VK56 since theres no such thing as a VQ56, the trans bolts up since the vk56 uses the same jatco re505a might need a different bell housing, or use the trans out of the truck your swapping from. The rest is typical custom fab work, you'll need motor mounts, trans cross member, and shorten the driveshaft + ecm work. I also believe the tall deck height of the vk56, a guy swapped it into a s14, had to custom make an intake manifold.
All in all, I'd probably just swap in a LS6 + T56 combo, Sikky and a tonne of other people make swap kits already for the V35 guys, and I gather they'd require little work to make them work in a V36 platform, but do expect a huge intrustion in your body control module, you may sacrifice a bit, like a/c unless you pin it out etc.
All around the average swap is going to run you around $12-15k depending how cheap you source the donor motor. So you definitely have to make sure that you want to accomplish this going all motor, and have an actual purpose for it, because you can do forced induction at half the cost.
Basically, if you have to ask, you most likely aren't ready for such an undertaking.

10K for a TT or a LS swap ?!? Both setups definitely are more than that. OP, good luck in your decision!
