Just call the main hotline number. Tell them you have XM installed in the car, and are unsure whether you actually want to try it out or not.
For being as expensive as it is, XM gives in to its customers fairly easily. More easily than most companies, actually. That might explain why they had to merge with Sirius to keep from going under...

LOL, XM is very easy to work with as far as prices are concerned. I consistently get them to give me the whole year for $77.
If they say they can't, I say ok I don't want XM anymore. Please cancel. They bounce me around a bit and then either finally give me the deal or let me cancel. When they let me cancel, I sign onto my on-line account and it offers me 3 months free anyway!
After those 3 months, I call back and do the whole thing all over again. Its actually fun sometimes.

I had XM for 4 yrs free until I traded my 04 G35 in Jun 09. This is what happened.
Purchased the car new in Feb 2005 got 3 free months, renewed for 6 months (paid) then went overseas for 1yr. My car was in military storage so I told XM to cancel my service as my car would not be driven for 1yr (except move around the parking lot by caretakers). Came back from overseas tour a year later, went to the port picked up my car, got in and XM was still on. Checked my credit card and and there was no charge. This continued for the next 4 yrs. So whoever bought it 2009 from a chevy dealer in FT Leonardwood Mo still has free XM radio hahaha, unless they changed the radio out. Just in case you ask, I briefly traded for a 2006 Yukon Denali. That lasted 1 1/2 yr and as you can see I'm back in a G35 and paying for XM

Meaning, if you are their actual paying customer at first, and then decide to cancel. That's when it works almost 99.99%.
So just don't forget to "cancel" after that first month is up. Let's say about a week before it's due, that's when you want to call them.

I'm confused. Because you said you did paid for the 6 months in advanced. Then later you call them to hold the service for a year. (No charge yet still on)
So technically speaking, you paid your 6 months plus those 3 free months. In total of 9 months of guaranteed service and another 6-8 months for free?

Usually xmradio require you to show your love first to them to give you anything else in return.
