Free XM!?

someone is probably still paying for it and hasn't realized it. XM is not very solid on that kind of thing. I get the feeling from them that their computer systems and databases are poorly designed. for instance...I had 2 radios, turned off one and kept the other on and they keep sending me mailers and emails to come back to them...

Here is a economic sense of advice
I have been getting a free subscription of XM for about 5 months now... You might wonder HOW?
Remember that not just guys like us in need of extra $$ in our pocket.
I am very business orientated when it comes to paying for all my utilities, including luxury.
So here are some tips.
You MUST subscribe with XM at least about 2 months... YOU must pay consistently for those period of time. Remember, most you'll shell out if $35. (I know that's a lot for a radio...)
But here is the kicker, you call within that period of time and ask to cancel!
At first, XM representative will transfer you over to their "canceling department" That's okay.
When you are finally with the person who just deals with the canceling service, they will ask you for a reason. Tell them honestly how you feel... IT'S TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE.
The offer/deal i've got was 6 months for $30 OR $50 for a whole year!!!!!!! that's not too bad.
BUT if you are consistent with the "canceling their service" just like us, we want to make money... so they will try their best to keep you in their best interest. THE BEST OFFER WILL BE GIVEN AT THEIR LAST STRAW!!!! BE PATIENT!
Finally they will say "How about we offer you a month of FREE!!!! subscription?" of course you say Thank you and press the thanks button for giving you the inside of best of best! "FREE"
And when the subscription is up, you just call again and be consistent until they say "free" again... you can do that until they no longer offer you "free" just don't mention free to them... because they won't give it to you in that case.
Hope it helps out and remember to be sympathetic with your "financial situations... even tho you LOVE their service "
Don't forget to press the thanks button! and keep us updated!!!
GOOD LUCK!

They have different plans, monthly pay, semi-annual pay, and annual pay. Sounds like either the PO forgot to stop paying, or maybe paid for a year and you have the subscription until the year is up. I don't think that XM is refundable.
It'll turn off eventually. When I bought my car, the PO let me keep the remaining four months of his subscription. I figured I'd just go back to my iPod after that. Wrong. My addiction now has me paying $16 a month for XM.

I did the whole "cancel because it's too expensive" thing and it works just like that. Last I paid for XM was November 2011. 6 months for $25. They said after the promotional period it would be $14.95/ month again. They havent charged me anything yet. So the last 2 months have been free. Not sure how long that will last but you can always call and they will offer you 6 months for around $25 which isn't bad at all.
