Parking light/loud beeping noise- while in park/engine is off

Periodically when I park and turn off my car the parking light turns on and a loud beeping noise goes off.

I have to play around with my seating adjustment to make the beeping stop. Then the brake light turns on for no reason. I seems like the computer is not registering that the car is already in park.

I took my car to the dealership since it only happens 1 of our 10 times they said it never happened while it was there.
I don’t know what to do because my warranty is almost over.

Has this happened to anyone before???

Have you had any aftermarket electronics installed in your car, or has anyone done any work on any of the electrical system in your car?

Not that i know of. I recently bought the car used. Do you think that it had work done to it and didn't include it in the carfax?

FYI: I wouldn't put any credibility in conclusions based upon the absence of information showing up on a CarFax report. I've had numerous personal experiences substantiating it, but you can google it for yourself and you will find countless instances of omitted information. Their service just reports what has been listed (and sometimes even misses that) and work is preformed on cars all the time without it ever being reported. Carfax is far more of a masterful marketing machine than any absolutely accurate and authoritative resource of a car's history.

I only mentioned any electrical work because I seem to remember someone here had problems which turned out to be traced to some aftermarket install work. Additionally, there was just someone here who had issues which turned out to be caused by a faulty fuseable link in the electrical system. Whenever multiple electrical systems act up in the car, the BCM module can be considered as well.

On a final note, and I don't mean to be condescending or anything, but just to be certain, is there any chance you are misinterpreting the symptoms, and you've just left your lights on or something simple like that? Sometimes in the fear and panic of suspecting our car is breaking, we can overlook obvious clues and jump to conclusions prematurely.

I would have a video camera ready for the next time it happens so I could record it and show the dealer.
These things never seem to present themselves when the car is in the shop.

Amanda, is there any follow up available on this issue???? It really helps to post whatever it turns out to be so a future reader might benefit from the knowledge.
