Does anyone know if the maps can be updated without having to have the work done by the dealer? I want to purchase updated maps for my 2007 G35x, but I was told by the NAV company that the disks are sent to the dealer and the dealer must do the upgrade!?
Anyone know of anthoer way to avoid the dealer?

While I am sure someone will find out someway somehow, as of now there is no way to upgrade the nav update without paying the huge dealer markup to have the work done.

Dealer only. No other way.
I just got mine update a few months back.

You can buy the new maps here http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INT...thAmerica-Site

Then take you receipt number to a local dealer and give them proof of purchase. They will charge you a service fee to do the install.

You can shop around different dealers as their prices vary. One dealer quoted me 110 and another quoted me just 65.

can a nissan dealer do this, or is this strictly infiniti dealer install? found out a week ago, just how out-dated my maps are.

^ Nissan dealer should be able to unless internal politics prevents them from touching it because the car says Infiniti on it.
The Nav system is the same as a Maxima and others.

I think my local dealer wanted $185 for the update

Depends if that's just the service fee or maps and service fee.

Could be a great deal if maps and service fee combined.

Agreed, there are many different prices from dealers. I was able to find a $65 close to my house the last time I did an update.
