Post Adding The Technology Package

I currently have a 2008 G35 Sedan. It has the Premium package with Bose sound system, ect. -- But it doesn't have Navigation or the back-up camera. I was wondering if it was possible to add it on.. I don't want aftermarket, I would like factory. How much would it be too? If possible.

FIRST POST.

Considering there are a lot of posts like this already, you will be paying much more.

It's been tried before, and it always ends up costing way too much and not worth the conversion. Just the backup camera already costs $1500 by itself to do the conversion. Imagine how much it would be to install a Navigation system on top of that. I would probably ballpark it around $3-4k for the conversion, so your total would be around $5k. You're going to need a brand new center console, hard drive, etc...

If you also want Technology Package, you're going to have to add additional parts to that- like headlights with AF-S assembly, laser cruise control, etc, new bumper with tech package, etc. I would say add on another $4-5k for that.

Probably not worth to do any of these. You might as well trade your car in at the dealer and finding a used technology package car for sale. Factory car is always better than trying to convert everything yourself with hands that aren't as experienced.

Where are you getting these prices? The smart way whould be to go used which will cut the cost by a truckload. It's doable, but a pain in the ***.

It would probably be less cost and headache by just taking the hit on a trade in for an 08 WITH the tech package lol

Additionally, the OP may want to reconsider maintaining such a strict 'stock only' policy. There have been numerous threads here of folks with very successful, and ceratinly more reasonably priced, aftermarket setups. Some are arguably even better that stock.

I was going to totally agree with you! But.... with the 08... the navi/backup camera comes with the Navi package.... The tech package included laser cruise and headlights that moved side to side when u turn....

There is another post on here I saw yesterday about the same topic and the guy did the conversion. I know that you can get the nav system plus DVD player for about $1000 used but if you are installing yourself plan on spending at least a day or two because you will have to remove the whole dash and redo the wiring.

I also forgot, you may need to change out the BCM too...apparently there are different BCMs between cars that have different packages...

You have extra switches that needs to be recognized by the BCM...If you even go online, they have different BCMs for the same car year model with tech package and those without tech package and/or navigation package.

Our cars are too complicated eletronically to try to attempt this. You're definitely better off trading it in for a car with the Tech Package.
